A TBBT/LHOTP crossover in honor of Amy Farrah Fowler.  Please join me with ideas for what happens next!

A lone horn sounds...  Then the orchestra chimes in, playing the iconic LHOTP theme song in all it's glory.  The scene is a wildflower and tall-grass-covered hill.  First, Laura runs down it gleefully smiling, then Mary, and finally little toddler Carrie who trips over her own feet.  The camera pans over to the side where Sheldon can be seen shaking his head and rolling his eyes.  Stupid toddler.  She can't even run down a hill?  Not to mention now all three girls will have to be checked for ticks after running through that tall grass...

The show opens to a schoolyard full of children and the town square...

....the school bell rings and all the children run to their classrooms and desks. The little house girls look up to see someone who isn't their regular school marm. It is a strange looking man wearing a strange looking shirt with a lantern on it, a green lantern. The man speaks "Hello children my name is Dr. Sheldon Lee Cooper. I am going to be your teacher for today as whichever country bumpkin was supposed to be your teacher is at home with the "vapors" or whatever passes for an ailment in this backwoods town. " The strange new teacher then moved to the blackboard and started talking again. "Today I will attempt to teach you all about physics......

As the physics lesson begins, across the town square Charles Ingalls glistens in sweat.  Despite the high probability of splinters, he is working shirtless at the mill, broad chest only covered by a pair of suspenders. Sipping on sarsaparillas on the porch of Olsen's mercantile, Penny and Bernie look around at their new surroundings.

Bernie: I told you we shouldn't have let Amy pick the destination on the time machine.
Penny: Who's the guy over there with his shirt off??

It looks like this is going to be a short story and that I will have to finish it on my own. Just like Charles Ingalls with a field ahead of him to plow, I am up to the task.

  • Charles Ingalls looks over and sees Leonard, Howard and Raj, three working-aged men standing idle and asks them to come lend a hand at the mill. At the thought of manual labor in the sunshine, all three burst into flames.
  • Back in the schoolhouse, teenaged farm boy Elmer Seth stands up, smirks and shouts, "How's this physics gonna help me with milkin' a cow?" To that Sheldon screams that the didn't want to teach a bunch of poopyheads anyways and storms out to Doc Baker's. After all, just interacting with these old-timey hicks has probably exposed him to smallpox and typhus.

  • When he gets to Doc Baker's office he finds Bernie telling the Doc about modern pharmaceuticals and Penny giving him samples of the latest erectile dysfunction drug. Word gets out all over Walnut Grove about these samples and the stampede causes Doc Baker's office to cave in. Somehow miracle worker Charles Ingalls saves everyone from the collapsed building, chest still glistening, and no one is hurt.

  • Amy, oblivious to the events in town continues to enjoy a morning with Caroline Ingalls, sitting in the little house and eating freshly baked bread.

I have no idea how they get back to Pasadena. I hope you enjoyed that. The End.

Whoa there Lemons not over yet. I was waiting for someone else to add chapter then this post gets buried under others. Anyways I was just lazy in continuing this for you. Plus I don't remember much about this show like you and Amy do.

Anyways mean girl Nellie walks up to Amy and starts saying mean things till Amy starts to get all flustered and runs and runs across the prairie. Then straight into the arms of a Vulcan who has landed to give earth warp drive technology. The aliens decide this is not the time to do so after seeing the rest of the town chasing the BBT gang. Amy looks back at Sheldon then at the Vulcan. She then decides to go into the ship and leave with them where she sees Penny getting a foot massage from a Romulan. Penny says "I tot I taw a Romulan and he was hot!!!". The ship takes off setting the town of Walnut Grove on fire. Howard with joy remembers that Debbie packed him a Brisket and they all warm it by the fire.

For no reason at all Sheldon yells "Wheaton !!

The End.

I guess people can pick your ending or mine. Either way, something catches on fire. fire Now to think up a new thread.

Also, thank you Z for your responses. You made me look less like a total dork.

Then Raj gets the town going in an elaborate Bollywood dance number which causes a breeze that puts out the fire. Sheldon then declares he will rebuild it as Sheldon Grove.

The thing is, Charles Ingalls had superpowers. He could do anything and everything and save everyone from all ills and catastrophes. And he cold do it with his shirt off while wind whipped through his 1970s hairdo. LHOTP was a great show, but it was a vanity project for Michael Landon. So even as bossy and controlling as Sheldon is, he could never take over (or even rebuild) Walnut Grove because Charles would have to be the one to save the day. And Charles would also have to be the one to put out the fire by lifting a river out of the ground with his big sweaty muscles and pouring it on the town.

But does Pa Ingalls look like a sexy praying mantis like Sheldon does? I think not. He doesn't even know what a prime number is

I think Pa would take one look at Sheldon and chortle heartily. Who needs prime numbers when you can split a log with an axe in one fell swoop!

Could be that you and Z are one-up (two-up?) on the rest of us.

Of course, I know of “Little House…” due to its iconic status; but, I’ve never read any of the books or seen the show. Maybe others on here are in the same boat.

When someone mentions the show in a Thread, I always do a quick, online fact-check. Then, based on the topic I can (sometimes) add a thing or two to the discussion. But, no way would I ever be able to write anything theme-wise about the show that would make even a smidge of sense to anyone.

Enjoyed reading what you both wrote.

LHOTP is like The Waltons but on a prairie not a mountain and with 3 kids and not 20.

Thanks FKA! I'm glad you enjoyed reading it! I was hoping that someone out there was. wink

Charles and Caroline actually had a fourth child, Grace. Then they adopted Albert and later James and Cassandra. Basically when the storyline started going stale they started adopting kids that weren't in the books. Maybe that should have been part of our crossover. Charles and Caroline could have adopted Sheldon.

Is that when the show jumped the shark ? Remember when saying "jumped the shark" would cause a huge kerfuffle on the old board?
