Debate The Big Bang Theory

A TBBT/LHOTP crossover in honor of Amy Farrah Fowler.  Please join me with ideas for what happens next!

A lone horn sounds...  Then the orchestra chimes in, playing the iconic LHOTP theme song in all it's glory.  The scene is a wildflower and tall-grass-covered hill.  First, Laura runs down it gleefully smiling, then Mary, and finally little toddler Carrie who trips over her own feet.  The camera pans over to the side where Sheldon can be seen shaking his head and rolling his eyes.  Stupid toddler.  She can't even run down a hill?  Not to mention now all three girls will have to be checked for ticks after running through that tall grass...

The show opens to a schoolyard full of children and the town square...

Probably. I would have to look it up (--Pause as I look this up--) Why yes there was a Quantum Leap episode with a Dracula like vampire in an old-timey English castle. Also actors who have been in LHOTP have also later been on QL.

Well then I think Scott Drac-Bakula was a perfect addition to our crossover thread!

I think we did a better job in this thread than the actual crossover scenes on TBBT. I guess they couldn't make it too much like LHOTP for fear of being sued or something.

Also, I just finished watching the finale of the Sopranos. Like an hour ago. Imagine a TBBT/Sopranos crossover! Sheldon wouldn't make it past the first 5 minutes!

Instead of seeing psychiatrist Jennifer, Tony sees Beverly. "And how does that make you feel?"

Ha! Maybe if Tony had only had a hugging machine growing up...

Was flipping through the channels and happened to catch a smidgen of S6E8 of LHOTP. Pa smacked Laura! I nearly fell out of my highchair.

It was the episode where someone wanted to kill himself for whatever reason. Laura wanted Pa to stay and try to talk the guy out of it. Pa said no; let's go; it's his decision to make. Laura got all hysterical...Pa smacked her...a couple of times.

cry I will never feel the same way about this show again.

"The Return of Mr Edwards" is the name of the episode.

Yeah. That’s the one.

It is just that from what I’ve heard about the show, I thought Pa walked-on-water. It was totally surprising to see him put an end to her hysterics the way he did; instead of ‘talking’ her down.

He didn't have time for that! There's fields to be planted, and cows to be milked!

Even Jesus doesn't always only talk, as is told in for example John 2:15.

I guess it all boils down to perception; because somehow, it's easier for me to accept the actions of one (Jesus) than those of the other (Pa).

I hear they were squatting on native land and eating yet to be invented peanut butter.

And using a telephone that only existed in large cities.

There was the occasional out of character moment for Charles on the show. (Charles as portrayed by Michael Landon anyway. Back in the days of real Laura Ingalls, physical punishment was probably the norm.) Out of character actions were especially prevalent starting in Season 6 as the quality of the show started declining. Charles was also probably a bit cranky because this was an episode where he didn't get to take off his shirt and walk around with greased pecs and suspenders for a while. Have no fear, though, by the end of this episode he had saved the day once again. Mr. Edwards did not off himself and in fact regained his will to live because Charles smeared deer blood all over himself and walked around with his shirt on.

And as for the anachronistic stuff, enough with your blasphemy! For all you know, men in late-1800s Minnesota did have wavy dreamy 1970's hairdos!

Didn't Mr Edwards want to end it all because his wife died of the mange or something old timey deadly like that? Maybe Pa slapped Laura because he had rabies from eating poisoned lard from the Olsen's store? This would also explain the deer blood smearing.

As for groovy 1800s Minnesota.... https://youtu.be/D46ARpQunjE
