محادثة The Big Bang Theory

A TBBT/LHOTP crossover in honor of Amy Farrah Fowler.  Please join me with ideas for what happens next!

A lone horn sounds...  Then the orchestra chimes in, playing the iconic LHOTP theme song in all it's glory.  The scene is a wildflower and tall-grass-covered hill.  First, Laura runs down it gleefully smiling, then Mary, and finally little toddler Carrie who trips over her own feet.  The camera pans over to the side where Sheldon can be seen shaking his head and rolling his eyes.  Stupid toddler.  She can't even run down a hill?  Not to mention now all three girls will have to be checked for ticks after running through that tall grass...

The show opens to a schoolyard full of children and the town square...

There was the occasional out of character moment for Charles on the show......Have no fear, though, by the end of this episode he had saved the day once again. Mr. Edwards did not off himself and in fact regained his will to live because Charles smeared deer blood all over himself and walked around with his shirt on.

And as for the anachronistic stuff, enough with your blasphemy! For all you know, men in late-1800s Minnesota did have wavy dreamy 1970's hairdos!

Didn't Mr Edwards want to end it all because his wife died of the mange or something old timey deadly like that? Maybe Pa slapped Laura because he had rabies from eating poisoned lard from the Olsen's store? This would also explain the deer blood smearing.

As for groovy 1800s Minnesota.... https://youtu.be/D46ARpQunjE

Mr. Edwards wanted to end it all because his wife dumped him for being an alcoholic, and also he had a bum leg which kept him from doing manly things. Grace, his wife, did not die. You may be thinking of Jonathan Garvey's wife who died in a house fire. However, she had no pre-existing health conditions of which I am aware, including the mange.

May I interest you in my copy of "How you get rabies", by Myron K. Dorefluston? You see, you can't get rabies by eating poisoned lard. You have to be bitten by it.

I hear they were squatting on native land and eating yet to be invented peanut butter.

Squatting on native land? Once upon a time I would have said no way Pa would have done such a thing. Now I'm thinking.

As for "peanut butter"...

National Peanut Board: "The earliest reference to peanut butter can be traced back to the Ancient Incas and the Aztecs who ground roasted peanuts into a paste."

They had the audacity to be living on our land before we got here.

Was the paste creamy or crunchy? Did the Incas wear monocles like Mr Peanut? Was the death of Mr Peanut a thinly disguised Aztec ritual sacrifice? Is that why Pa Ingalls was covered in deer blood? I think the natives traded the land for a future ownership of the Mall of America. Pa Ingalls was not squatting. He was weight lifting and doing squats to keep himself muscley. 6 Pack abs don't come easily. Or that diet of lard fried food was not sitting well with his stomach.

There was the occasional out of character moment for Charles on the show. (Charles as portrayed by Michael Landon anyway. Back in the days of real Laura Ingalls, physical punishment was probably the norm.) Out of character actions were especially prevalent starting in Season 6 as the quality of the show started declining. Charles was also probably a bit cranky because this was an episode where he didn't get to take off his shirt and walk around with greased pecs and suspenders for a while. Have no fear, though, by the end of this episode he had saved the day once again. Mr. Edwards did not off himself and in fact regained his will to live because Charles smeared deer blood all over himself and walked around with his shirt on.

Maybe the writers wanted to shake things up a bit with the unexpected.

I guess if there had been discussions board back then, the deluge of comments following that uncharacteristic act would have rival the real life one that rocked this show's old board back in the day. Anyone remembers the brouhaha over “The Haircut"?

Did he apologize to little Laura? Or was she giving him the sassy teen duck lips. Penny would have tied Pa up and left him in a cornfield.

He did apologize. Once he finished covering himself in deer blood he regretted acting like a primate.

We ought to all be thankful for that haircut! It gave us message board fodder for months! 😂

Just why was he covered in deer blood and for how long?

OK Z-let, cross your legs criss-cross applesauce because now it's time for storytime.

Mr. Edwards had gotten depressed because of his bum leg. I was wrong earlier. His wife had not left him yet, but she did eventually. At this point his sadness was about his injured leg which kept him from working and he felt like a useless burden, so he wanted to shoot himself on what was framed as a camping trip. Charles, ever the savior of all, shot a small deer and rubbed the blood all over himself, and then feigned an injury. Mr. Edwards then had to run back and forth across the forest getting help for Charles's faked injury and in doing so he realized he could still move around pretty good and wasn't as old and washed up as he thought. All rejoiced and danced over a nice dinner of possum stew.

I swear, one of these days I'm going to watch an episode of Little Out House on the Prairie.

Lemons watched an episode of Star Trek. The one with the Gorn.

When I hear that from Lemons...

Was that the one with the Metronomes?

One of these days I'm going to tickle you silly.

Also, if you ever watch an episode, I'd like to select which one.

I'm sorry but you'll have to take that up with Antenna TV _(television the way it was meant to be _)
