In the finale, Raj decides not to go after Ruchi after all, and stay in Pasadena until his one true love drops out a tree and onto his head like a coconut. I suppose to leave one bachelor on the show for the fans who disliked the rom com approach the show took . This to me was as lame as his relentless procession of love interests. Do you agree and if so how else could his story concluded?

Ruchi was so forgettable I forgot her. It's good they showed not everyone gets married

I agree with Raj staying single. But spending an entire season with her only to drop her was a waste of time.

Well, leaving one out, isn't a surprise; it was also done in - yes mentioned once again
- "Friends" with Joey.
If Raj's friends hadn't dissuaded him from going for an arranged marriage in the first seasons, he would have already been married before any of them. They even ridiculed him and convinced him to choose true love and never again to try for something like that again.
Later, they changed their mind with Anu, because then they believed that he could fall in love/learn to love afterwards (like his parents), and they were also feeling sorry (guilty) for him that he was still single and alone.

Ruchi always had this look like like something smelled bad. Maybe she smelled bad. Raunchy Ruuchi

I think I wanted to see one last shot of her and him saying goodbye. Unless they did and I forgot about it. She takes off. He stays. Boring.

They should have just shown him doing more with his career

Didn't Ruchi go take a shower once and ask Raj to join her. That would have freshened her up.
I am sure Raj went off too play, I mean work, with his telescope ðŸ”. Then play his clarinet that rhymed with Bernadette

Re: All the above...
Anu not Ruchi.
(Ruchi was that scheming She
at Bernie’s company who caused a rivalry between Raj and Stuart...and who tried to take Bernie’s job.)

Did Anu even care if Raj joined her. I doubt it.

Probably not much. She would have had plenty of opportunities in London.
Also the idea that Raj should wait for "true love" sounds good, even admirable. But for Raj, what "true love" means is actually more like some stalker from Criminal Minds (TV show) or something. So dissuading HIM from looking for "true love" could actually save a life somewhere. If only his own.
Shorter version: if anyone really needed to "settle" it wasn't Penny, it was Raj.

Raj did have the opportunities. He was just always on the search for a better one.

...or his friends disapproved of his choice.

Raj had opportunities until he screwed up in some particularly extreme way - or until she figured out how he really was - and she dumped him.
I can't remember Raj ever being the dumper, he was always the dump-ee. I guess it could be claimed that he "dumped" Anu but that was just because she hadn't quite gotten fed up with him yet.
