It was better if they hadn't gotten married at all, just stayed engaged.
Penny shouldn't have suddenly been pregnant either. She didn't want children; she repeated this many times over in the past years to Leonard and her father.
Something similar happened to Bernadette, and she also changed her mind.
The show gives the impression that whatever women say about 'not wanting children', when their father, their partner, and everyone else want children, then they - the women - will change their mind and get pregnant.
So, what do you learn: in reality all women want children, even if they - vehemently- deny it at first. And when they get pregnant, they should get married.
At the end everything seemed to be rushed, everyone got married, except for Raj. He didn't even have someone at the end.
This reminded me a bit of the last season(s) - e.g. getting married - in "Friends (1994-2004)".
As for them tying the knot too soon, we are talking eight years here…don’t see where soon comes in. Plus their on-again/off-again/will they/wont they saga was getting a little long in the tooth. Plus, once the Shamy saga hit-the-ground running it was a great, seamless way to put one huge storyline to bed and concentrate on another.
This reminds me of the old imdb days when there was always a "it used to be about nerds and now its Friends" comment from someone. Which to a degree was true.
Well, (almost) everyone wanted/expected a happy ending to the series with Leonard and Penny getting married. So, after two weddings, it was finally their turn. The writers just gave the fans what they wanted.
Side notes:
Sheldon winning the Nobel Prize was also another item on the Fan's Wishlist.
After all those weddings, expect more babies and prehaps a sequel twenty years from now: "The Bigger Bang Theory".
Not this fan. No baby for the noble Penny and no Nobel for the baby Sheldon.
"It started with a Big Bang and ended with a Wimper Theory"
Penny divorces Leonard and goes off with Zack. Bernie leaves the house and babies for Howard to take care of while she runs the pharmaceutical company. Shamy has a baby who ends up in writing the bestseller "Shamy Baby Ka-razy Baby"
Well, Zack was already married before the end too. But that's still less awful than those who apparently wanted Penny, if she got pregnant "accidentally," to have an abortion and then... what, go back to Nebraska and handle the meth sales for her brother?

So like Chucky to do the unexpected.

I just think the writers were lazy in writing their relationship and wedding

By the end the show seemed to have dragged on too long yet rushed in tying up things.
