Poptop's thread about one of Jim's next projects reminds me of a "syndrome" I have. I'll call it, "Inability to accept that an actor could play any other character than my beloved character" syndrome. Now that doesn't mean that I don't wish actors continued success in their careers- I do. I just can't watch them do it. It's a complicated syndrome.
For example, when I saw Linda Cardellini in Endgame as Hawkeye's wife I whispered to my son, "Why did Lindsey Weir marry Hawkeye?" Because Linda Cardellini is Lindsey Weir and no one else. And when Chris Pratt was kissing Opie's daughter in the dinosaur movie, I was thinking, "What the hell would Gamora think of this?" You see? It's a problem. And as much as I want the actors on TBBT to be wildly successful for the remainder of their careers- I really do- I think I might start having physical ticks actually watching one of them being someone other than their TBBT character. Like they'd be cheating on that character or something.
Am I the only one with this affliction? If you do not have it, please name an actor and at least two characters of theirs who you loved.

I like Lemons in her appearances in Lemonade, Lemon Cream Pie, Lemon Bars, Lemon Chicken, Lemon soup, Lemon Salmon etc. etc.
I also love Summer Glau in everything she has done.

This thread is starting to take on a rather fruity flavor. Speaking of fruit you know who else I miss? Kiwi! You out there Kiwi?

I still like Linda Cardellini as Velma of Scooby Doo fame as well.
However, there's a mystery series PBS sometimes has in which English Actor Patricia Routledge plays the brilliant detective and I can't watch it because when I see Ms. Routledge on screen I see the wacky and domineering Hyacinth Bucket of the dysfunctional family sitcom "Keeping Up Appearances."

It sounds like you have a touch of this syndrome, too, then Bob. Specifically the Routledge strain.
To all board members: I'm curious, have any of you watched Freaks and Geeks (speaking of Ms. Cardellini), and if so, did you like it? To me it's almost a given that if someone likes TBBT, they'd like F&G. If ya'll haven't watched it, you should give it a try!!

And after Freaks and Geeks watch Square Pegs from the 80s. Both shows lasted only one season

While I think it was a tragedy that F&G only lasted one season, in other ways that is one of the things that is so perfect about it. It never had a chance to lose its quality. Just a perfect short little self-contained gem. Have you watched it Z? Having grown up around the same time as the setting of the show, I can say it was scarily accurate.

I saw Freaks And Geeks, but Ms C was on ER for a lot longer, and that's where I got more used to her. She also played an... interesting... character in the movie "Grandma's Boy."
Meanwhile, how about some sympathy for all the Star Wars fans who have to see Queen/Senator Amidala/Mrs Anakin Skywalker playing Thor's squeeze!
How COULD she cheat on Darth Vader like that!?

I'm a Star Wars fan. (It's Star Trek I know nothing about.) But I did not like Queen I'mADollar. Natalie Portman played her with the personality of a block of wood. Now granted, it was partly the fault of the script, but I did not get attached to Natalie Portman being I'mADollar. I honestly don't remember her in Thor because I refused to watch her be Thor's wife. He was supposed to marry me. Surely you remember that from the old board.
However, I'm glad to see yet another person with this syndrome. In this case, the Portman strain.

The original commercial for her action figure
Lets all sing along
Actually she wasn't that bad and had all that cool headgear.

I loved Freaks and Geeks. Especially Ms. Cardellini's character. Who could dislike the smartest of the geeks who partied with the freaks? And was the most awesome big sister ever to her brother.

I do not remember that. And, don't call me Shirley.
Actually I wasn't referring to myself. I was just asking for sympathy for those who do.

I guess you were too busy watching Airplane to know of my love for Thor.
And nice of you to "ask for a friend".

Yes, Lindsey was great. And I really identified with her. I was also a girl who had grown up being a rule-following smart kid who branched out (to some degree) to the wild kids in high school. It was like watching my own high school years replayed on TV. Glad to learn I have a fellow F&G fan on here, Bob!
