Was at the market yesterday standing in the checkout line when a customer broke into a song and dance routine—YES! I said song-and-dance. Maybe it’s not important; but this person was dressed-to-the-nines. Anyway, since The Performer had three people ahead of them in the checkout line, the “show” went on for a few. At first, I started looking around for the rest of the Flash Mob; then I realized that it was a solo act.
Yes, I wasthat someone was actually singing (loudly) and dancing in (and around) a supermarket checkout line; but, what really
me is how little attention anyone paid to The Performer. People simply continued shopping/talking/working/whatever they were doing. There was no crowd of folks standing around watching. No one ragging, or shouting 'stfu'. No store personnel intervening to bring it to an end, or to “escort” The Performer from the premises.
The show stopped as abruptly as it had started when The Performer finally reached the register.
Weird, huh?

What were they singing? And did you take a picture?

Maybe it was a 1 person flash mob or the rest called out.

Didn't recognize the song--I did try. Didn't take a picture--I didn't try.

One person who thought they were performing with a Flash Mob? Or, one person who got pranked by the rest of the Flash Mob; then figured "the show must go on"?

Wonder if the person was in a local community theatre production and was practicing his number?

Guess we'll never know.
The person wasn't a bad singer--and was an even better dancer; but, my first thought wasn't "theatre". Considering the venue, my first thought was: looks like somebody has started hitting their Super Bowl 'stash' a little early.

All in all I would rather see a random song and dance number than people having conversations on their phones in public.

In public, in general—unless the person is very animated—I can usually tune them out.
Although; it does
me when they are, say, conducting business with someone in person while still yammering away with someone on their phone. An emergency situation I can understand. But, unless the person at the other end is needed to help them decide “cash-or-credit”; then it’s %$#!*&@ rude.

Sounds like an odd thing to do, but you have to admit doing something like that would take some balls. I almost find it admirable. You can be a sheep and stand in line and not make any waves, or do something out of the ordinary and break into a song and dance routine. I probably would have applauded lol.
I agree with znexyish, thought it sounded like he was in theater production. Maybe not even necessarily rehearsing, but maybe on an after show adrenaline rush.

"Rebel?"--could be. However, I lean more toward: "lights-on-but-nobody's-home".
Anyway...
Since none of us share the same brain, or have had identical life experiences: different people—same event—different takeaways is a given.

Maybe, but the two aren't mutually exclusive :)

I’d want to argue otherwise; but, in doing so I’d have to offer up some line of reasoning to support my POV. And, since I’m not at all passionate about the subject one way or the other—plus that sounds like work—I’m going to let this ‘branch’ of this discussion go at
.

Reminds me of Bender from The Breakfast Club. Cliché rebel yet probably dumb as soup.
