Discuss The Big Bang Theory

I'm in the second commercial break now. Just wondering if maybe it ends up with the neighbors get to keep their patio with the lights, and Howard and Bernadette have to remove their non-permitted deck with the hot tub.

Wouldn't surprise me.

Well that didn't happen. But Leonard should sneeze on the meteorite and ruin their results.

So that didn't happen either. Kinda made the whole sniffles thing rather pointless.

It was a standard sitcom plot, the obnoxious/nosy etc. neighbor issue. I thought the whole episode was bla. A sign that the show is ending when it needs to. Leonard's nightmare was good but reminded me of Sheldon's Golum nightmare. Nice to see Bert again. I had the idea that Bert and Raj might discover something amazing in the meteorite and win the Noble prize instead of Sheldon. Stuart and Denise show that they are a good pairing with them both expecting the worst from meteor and hunkering down Omega Man style in the comic book store. I wondered if Sheldon did report Howard and Bernie would that be the last straw in his annoying behavior and that the Wolowitz' finally cut him off. Being reported to the zoning commission and costing them lots of money would definitely let Bernie's inner rage surface and pounce on Sheldor like a tiny tiger.

Golum? You mean the Morlocks, from when they had the "replica" Time Machine?

Yes it was pretty boring overall. And the whole thing with Leonard sneezing etc was basically wasted. They could have done something useful with that, such as I mentioned before, Bert is excited about what might be inside the meteorite but then they cut it open and Leonard sneezes on it and it's ruined. (Really though, if they suspected anything special inside, they should have cut it open inside a sealed space anyway. Maybe in a vacuum, or maybe filled with some inert gas. It would have made more sense to do that with the laser.)

I don't think there would have been actual Nobel competition between Bert/Raj, and Sheldon/Amy/the others. They would have been in different categories. But it still could have been played for something, like Bert/Raj somehow winning in their category while Sheldon/Amy/etc don't win in theirs.

In the episode when they found the Lord of the Rings Ring. Which makes at least two nightmare scenes.

Oh, I didn't remember him dreaming about Golum then.

But for overall nightmare scenes, besides the Morlocks there's been a few where Sheldon dreamed of the Gorn. Once or twice with the Tiny Spock Doll (the episode involving the toy transporters), and I think at least one more that just had the Gorn sitting on their couch which is how Sheldon knew he was dreaming.

Also the one where Sheldon dreams that Leonard and Penny turned his room into a "sex dungeon."

Probably more too, but I can't think of them now.

There was also the time when Penny "kissed" Sheldon. It is a really common sitcom bit especially when the character wakes up in bed in shock after the dream. Oh and Raj's daydreams about Bernadette.

In "The Precious Fragmentation." Sheldon dreamed that he had won the ring and went to clean and polish his precious, turning into a Sheldon version of Gollum in front of the bathroom mirror.

No double-wake-up gag like the show has done a few times too many on that one, like there was on Leonard's meteor monster dream. But there was the parallel of the dreamer turning into the monster.

Does Penny's "daydream" about Leonard being a perfect gentleman (right before the real Leonard playing a video game in his underwear belches loudly) count?

I don't recall that one at all. The dream/nightmare fake out is its most cliche when the character suddenly bolts upright out of bed something that I think no one does. I did not mind Leonard's eyes glowing but the zombie attack did not work for me even if it led into Stuart and Denise bolting their door. Still I now want to see more of Stuart and Denise together. couple
