Discussão Big Bang: A Teoria

We all know what we would like to see at the end but what don't you want to see. I would like for whatever old faces appear that they would have a good reason. Unlike Leslie Winkle just appearing at Sheldon's birthday party in the background.

But I don't remember Andromeda ever having an imitative-aliens type episode. TOS did, " A Piece Of The Action," and that was basically the whole foundation of Galaxy Quest.

Slightly off topic. I just finished watching the wedding episode & in my humble opinion, it is one of the dumbest episodes from the show. Although Amy's little speech was sweet.

I know. I was just name dropping the name of the dumb show. I just watched a couple of episodes on one of those sub channel channels and it was in my memory banks.

They show Andromeda & Stargate SG-1 back to back (twice a day) on Comet TV.

Starting October 1, Babylon 5 (YAY) will be on 7 days a week at 9:00 pm.

That was it. I saw it on Comet TV. Which is pretty new to me. Thanks. Now I can catch up with Babylon 5 and see what all the fuss is about and why Sheldon hates it. Now just waiting for some place to start airing Thunderbirds and all that.

They are starting with the 2 hour test pilot movie 'The Gathering', then the start of season one.

They also show 'Space 1999' on Saturdays, although I do not know why? I thought it was a dumb show.

You've never seen B5 before? Wow, you're in for a treat. I envy you for seeing it for the first time.

The more interesting thing about "Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda" is that it started out with the original pilot called "Genesis II" with Alex Cord as Dylan Hunt. The second pilot (a la Star Trek TOS) "Planet Earth" had John Saxon as Dylan Hunt. Ted Cassidy co-starred in both, and they were set on Earth. A third semi-version pilot was called "Strange New World" which also starred John Saxon but with a different character name, also (mostly) on Earth. (It was somehow done separately from Roddenberry's influence, hence the character name changes and some other differences.) Then, finally, it got moved (back?) into space, with Kevin Sorbo as Dylan Hunt, for "Andromeda." And ran for 5 seasons.

What I found odd about the two (Stargate SG-1 & Andromeda) was the crossover with some of the actors (playing completely different characters). The 2 shows aired basically at the same time, Stargate (1997-2007) & Andromeda (2000-2005).

I didn't watch Andromeda, wasn't a fan of Sorbo but I was & still am a big Stargate fan (except for 'Universe').

Yes I have seen Babylon 5 but not entire seasons and especially not the whole in its entirety. A few episodes here and there and certainly not in a long time so I don't remember much. I expect that I will be impressed. On the Star Trek discussion I said "So much Star Trek". I will have to amend that not to "So many Star Trek like shows" hard to keep up with all of them and the good ones at that. I will post back after I have seen some B5.

One of the biggest differences between B5 and most other sci-fi is how "linked together" it all is. Something that happens in season 1 or 2 may not click into place until season 3 or 4 or 5. That's the biggest reason it's important to actually pay attention, not just do as too many people do especially these days, and just use TV as background noise.

The opening two-part episode (or single "movie") "The Gathering" was changed after it was first shown, and I think not all for the better. But it's still good.

One warning, though, if you're not already aware of it: no matter what others might tell you, DO NOT see "In The Beginning" until you're FINISHED WITH SEASON 4. TNT made it as a "refresher" before they took over with season 5, and there are spoilers galore if you see it too soon. Since you're not changing networks, you don't really need to see it at all. There's little if any new material in it. But it can bring a useful change of perspective if seen in the proper setting.
