I think they should do this for the finale:
Everyone comes home from Sheldon and Amy's Nobel prize speech and as they come into the apartment the maintenance man is walking out. He let's them know he fixed the elevator and it's working.
They get on the elevator to go up , reminisce about all the good times, and it gets stuck in between floors, lights flicker then go out.
We hear a collective "Awwwwwwww c'mon!"
Roll credits, theme song.

I like that idea, Arctic Fox. 😊 And it is certainly very plausible. I think the only thing that would stop the writers from doing something like that is that everybody is expecting a scene with the elevator. If they want to surprise us in some way they'll have to go with a different ending. But regardless, I suspect changes with the elevator will show up at some point during this final season.

The rest of the gang stuck in an elevator with annoying Sheldon and bossy Bernie--kind of makes you
just thinking about it.
Since "The Elevator" is on my final-season-bucket-list; here is
that they don't leave us hanging.

The problem with the elevator is that the fans expect something to happen with it in the finale. Having the gang get stuck in it is good but they would have to get out of it quick or Sheldon's trouble with closure would elevate big time.
