Let's change up the format as well. Instead of posting a song per day just post what you've been listening to recently and we'll discuss.

Deftones is my favorite band and I've been re- listening to all their albums with my roomie this summer.

Tell me what you think

I wanted to see them live for my birthday this year but they don't tour the East Coast until September 😊

Oh Erica I feel that most of these last remaining posters here are rather stuck in their ways music wise. I myself haven't been listening to anything new or old lately but will do so and check back later. The Deftones clip was great .

I was trying to come up with some kind of review or perceptive comment but I kept sounding like some music dork so I kept erasing it.

Also I am too busy right now watching the World Cup. Go Croatia ! soccer

I am listening to London Grammar then Lana Del Rey someone recommended me her this song (Brooklyn Baby) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0E053G7MUM and now I became her fan.

I'm a Broadway Baby born and bred. My people are show-people—literally. Cut me and I bleed show tunes.

Occasionally, I'll run across something else that captures my attention--but I definitely do not follow anything else LikeThat.

Well then FKA post a show tune for us or some show that you recently listened to. Or what your fav shows are or what type you prefer. Just to keep a new thread going for a little while.

When it comes to this board, we’ll have to start calling you “Johnny Appleseed”.

Anyway…

Ahh the days of the flash mob. One day I will tell my children of the time when people would secretly gather together to sing and dance in public places while the people around them would just wonder what is going on. Then they would applaud and go about their shopping.

Also no purist here. Now a Sondheim flash mob would be something to behold.

Poor George--I know the feeling.

No one has shown interest in my favorite song, how rude :(

It was okay.

Well, I'm 'stuck in my music ways', which I guess means I listen to the stuff I like, which is rather widespread. Though I'm sure after I post this, someone will call me an "old fogy rocker" (hell, my wife does).

I may have posted this back in the day on IMDB. Recently I've been listening to some Led Zeppelin again. You actually have to see it out as they get about zero airplay anymore, even on most classic rock stations.

This actually isn't Zeppelin. It's from a concert series (this clip filmed in Detroit - which I'm still upset that I missed). It's Plant and Page touring with an orchestra. Back in 1980 the Live version of IN THE EVENING just didn't work. First, like a lot of songs performed live, the band sped up the tune. Many bands and acts do this in order to get in more songs. To me it's quantity ruining quality. The other issue is the synthesizer-driven sound from the track didn't translate well live. It sounded weak and was overpowered by the guitar(s).

This version with the orchestra strings replacing the synthesizer REALLY works well. And the song is performed in the proper time. I am starting it at the 2:27 mark, because the intro will undoubtedly not be enjoyed by a lot of people. If you like, rewind and start from the beginning.

In The Evening - Live 1995 - Page and Plant

Here's the tune from 1980 - fast and not as polished.

In The Evening - Live 1980

I absolutely hate it when groups and artists speed up the songs. In the case of IN THE EVENING, IMO, it nearly wrecks the tune.

I just listened to your song, then the original version, then a live one, then a couple of other remixes. Remixes are tricky and this one really works. I think I like it better than her original track. Also London Grammar is pretty cool too. I wasn't aware of them but kind of think I heard of them somewhere. Thanks for posting.

Also I wonder if Lana's song is about Brooklyn hipsters. The song certainly sounds like her.

Yeeeeeah! I'm cheering for Croatia too. Not because I have anything against France but I love an underdog.

I have 50 Lana Del Rey songs in my playlist.

West Coast is my favorite song by her.

Wasn't lack of interest--just didn't see your post--that's all.

Anyway...

I listened—some—then decided to sample something else. Think I prefer the earthiness of "Video Games" more.

That's a great one!
