This board and the old board seemed to me to have more Star Trek and DC/Marvel aficionados. Just curious if anyone here gives a crap. Each of the new Disney SW movies always stir up a Wookies worth of trouble. Do you dress up like a Storm Trooper in your off hours or do you think it is just Babylon 5 with more money?

It seems to me that Star Wars and Disney have backed/painted themselves into a corner. Solo was the first Star Wars movie to lose money. I know, I know, the way accounting in the movie industry goes and with all the merch and tax write offs it's gonna end up making money for Disney somehow but the 'official word' is that it lost money.

A Star Wars movie LOST money.

Seriously, let your mind roll that around for a minute or so.

This less than 6 months after*The Last Jedi* broke EVERY box office record on the planet.

But now you've done the "origin" movie for not just Han Solo, but Lando as well. what does that leave you with: a Boba fett movie, wow a molvie about a bounty hunter. I'd rather watch a couple of episodes of Dog the Bounty Hunter, at least with those there's a damn good chance I get to see some shots of Beth's huge knockers bouncing and jiggling and nearly falling out of one of her too small tops. A movie about Chewbacca which will have to have subtitles and will suck, amovie about how Kylo Renn turned evil or Episodes I-III redux. What's left, a movie about Leia growing up and how she turned into a bitchy princess? TAKE MY MONEY!!!!! A movie about Luke growing up on some backwater s-hole planet living out in the middle of the goddamn desert, OOOOOOOOHHH!!!!! That sounds mindblowingly exciting!!!!!.

The problem is that Lucas messed up Ep's I-III so bad the fans revolt if they don't get the same rehash of "Rebels have to blow up yet another ULTIMATE WEAPON built by the Empire."

I know, you know, they know--(excerpts from an article):

“…After all, “Solo” is much more than a film. It’s a merchandising apparatus; one designed to move t-shirts, action figures, bedding, and even something as quotidian as plastic cups and paper plates."

"It’s not unusual for a big-budget film to have to earn most of its money from ancillary revenues. Roughly half of most movies’ revenues come from its theatrical window with the rest coming from pay-TV deals, rentals, and disc and digital sales, insiders say.”

Yes, it's a smaller cashcow2but, still one nevertheless!

The only moments from Star Wars that I have enjoyed in recent years were the end of Rogue One and when KiloRen took off his shirt

But no, I don't care. The things I care about are things like will I get to bed before my bedtime and did someone else eat the last piece of pie which was mine
