We don't know, because now it apparently won't get made. But they weren't going to just run a test pattern in that time slot. SOME show would have been picked up from a pilot or whatever, to replace it. Which won't happen now if it's not going away. Which means the people who would have worked on that new show, remain unemployed. But nobody (nobody but me, anyway) seems to feel sorry for them the way so many people seemed upset that the people working on Roseanne would be unemployed.

In that case, what's would have stopped them from re-hiring everyone affected by the disaster caused by the Barrnado except herself? Same as they are doing now?

That's what I said too. I didn't get what all the upset was supposed to be about. But it's another example of hidden consequences. There were cries for sympathy for the people working on Roseanne that would lose their jobs because of HER. And how awful it was for Roseanne to get her show cancelled without thinking of the "little people, " I guess. I'm the one who said they could get jobs on whatever show replaces it, because ABC wasn't going to just show a test pattern.

Similar things happen in the larger economy too. People don't see the factory that didn't get built because of high taxes, the people that didn't get hired, etc. So they don't have the direct evidence of the problems caused by high taxes and regulation etc. Except in things like skyrocketing housing prices in places like PRC (People's Republic of California).

Still better than most stuff on today. And with all the medical marijuana being used now it is sure to be a hit !

I guess if they didn't just colorize the original, it's not unforgivable.

The only movie I wish they WOULD colorize is Fate Is The Hunter. It's a great movie, and in 1964 it should have been filmed in color to start with.

Has anyone seen any details yet about what "The Connors" is supposed to be about? Do they claim Roseanne died or something, like supposedly happened with Dan toward the end of the original series? Or is she just always off-screen, or "on vacation" or something?

They haven't said anything official yet, Knixon. I did read an article sometime within the last week or so (in the Detroit News, I think), that the show will be keeping its working-class focus, and all the trials and challenges that a working-class family has to deal with. My strong suspicion is, considering that Roseanne's character was struggling with a drug addiction and other health issues, that she will be written out as a death.

That's possible. Although an OD seems a bit dark even for that show. Maybe she'll be "in treatment" indefinitely.

Here is a list of possibilities I ran across in an article:

#1. She is dead.

“The most obvious – and most likely? – choice is simply to kill off the character….The death of Roseanne Conner — at age 65, in questionable health and about to undergo knee surgery — would be sad, yes, but by no means unprecedented.”

#2. She's in rehab.

“…the Season 10 development that Roseanne had become dependent on opioids due to ongoing medical issues offers a perfect way to usher the character out of sight (and out of mind) while she gets help for her issues.”

#3. She's in prison.

“…I mean, the opioid crisis is no joke and it’s not much of a stretch to imagine Roseanne Conner going full Walter White while offscreen and ending up convicted of multiple drug-related felonies.”

#4. She was dead all along.

“It turns out that Roseanne Conner was actually killed in a car accident in the Season 1 finale of “Roseanne,” after heroically leading a walkout at Wellman Plastics, and the rest of her adventures were simply imagined by Dan in a series of bestselling novels about his dead wife, a domestic goddess.”

#5. Everyone realizes she’s not a very nice person and collectively cuts her out of their lives.

“Probably the least dramatic option, but there’s something to be said for realism at the end of the day.”

If I were the showrunners, I'd be thinking that #1--a clean cut is the way to go.

A lot of people say they wouldn't watch TBBT without Sheldon who isn't even the central character. How many people are going to watch Roseanne without Roseanne who REALLY IS the central character?

Seems like a gamble; but...

Human nature being what it is, at the very least people will drop in the see what's-what without "Roseanne".

Also, the 'old' show was written around the Roseanne character; obviously, the writing (storylines) will have to be re-routed.

Plus, the other cast/characters also have their legion of fans. So, Barr/the Roseanne character wasn't the only reason people tuned in.

Then there are the people who are not Barr fans, so didn't watch Roseanne for that reason; but, with her gone, maybe they'll decide to give the new show a look-see.

Think it's success will hinge on how great the resulting Roseanne-less product turns out to be.

Let's hope it turns out to be great enough.
