It's been one year now, since they lost their project to the government (S10E23 "The Gyroscopic Collapse", air date: May 4, 2017).
Did they also lose their patent? If so, that means no money and no scholarship for Wolowitz first born.
At least they won't feel guilty for getting rich this way. They'll only have to live with the knowledge that their invention will be used for military purposes. But that's allright, they are scientists.

I think the military has forgotten about the project just like the show has. Honestly I forgot all about it until this thread of yours. They should still have the patent. The gryoscope project is collecting dust in some storage closet.

Not that I'm an expert; but even if this thing were to see the light of day...
The testing and reviewing and writing the regulations and writing the instructions and all the backs-and-forth and all the sign-offs could take years.
