Discuss The Big Bang Theory

...Sheldon in 25-30 Years.

When Sheldon got an up-close-and-personal look at that glorious life he'd envisioned—one devoted entirely to being left alone in his pursuit of scientific nirvana—it didn’t look so glorious after all. No doubt diehard fans are rage at his declaration that it is no longer the end-all-be-all—to the exclusion of all else for him—it used to be. But, I doubt very few-to-none of those same diehard fans would choose a Dr. Wolcott lifestyle over, say, a Leonard or a Howard one.

Anyway...

Even though Sheldon finally had his life-is-better-with-Amy epiphany; must say for a moment there (the way he was drooling over Dr. Wolcott and his work and his living arrangement), kind of made me wonder if maybe there was a slight breeze blowing across Sheldon’s feet. question

I expect Sheldon might go back and forth a few more times. Or at least he "should," based on what we saw and his apparent commitment still to solving string theory. (And when did he switch back again from dark matter, anyway?) Whether or not The Writers That Be will actually do it, is another question. And whether or not they could/would actually make it FUNNY, is yet another question.

At the very least, it seems like Sheldon would "have to" spend occasional weekends up at the cabin, since he seems unlikely to totally give up on solving string theory - which seems to require Dr Wolcott's assistance - and while Sheldon might now see that he doesn't want his own life to be just like Dr Wolcott's, I don't think he could settle for a "normal" life with Amy if it means never finally solving string theory and getting his Nobel.

Best Sheldon line of the episode: “I'm from Texas and I can tell the difference between squirrel and rabbit.”

I don't know--the guys seemed awfully spooked.

Dr. Wolcott had "Mad Scientist" written all over him. He is a single-minded, half-crazed recluse, who eats crappy smiley tomatoes and rabbit flavored squirrel (or squirrel flavored rabbit?)--plus he has a gun. The guys (especially Sheldon) seemed awfully eager to get out of there--can't see any of them (especially Sheldon) making a return trip.

As for Sheldon/Amy/Nobel - When it comes to his Nobel, I don’t think Sheldon's commitment has changed. I think what has changed is his idea that his scientific pursuits in the quest for his Nobel should be at the expense of everything else. And, since Amy is such a cheer-leader when it comes to Sheldon’s career, can’t see there being any Nobel-pursuit problem(s).

We'll see. Just earlier this season, I think it was, when Amy posited to Sheldon that he might just do useful work and have friends and stuff, without ever being famous etc, Sheldon's response was the usual "It's a good thing you're cute."
