One of the greatest scientific minds of all time, one who defied the odds and accomplished with a debilitating disease what most people could only hope to.

Can't wait to see how they honor his memory on the show.

"My goal is simple. It is a complete understanding of the universe, why it is as it is, and why it exists at all." - (Stephen Hawking)

With his achievements, contributions, and his never ending thirst for knowledge...he was, to quote Spock, "Fascinating"!

R.I.P.

He was one of my favorites--so sad.

I was so sad when I heard this....R.I.P

I just heard an interesting tidbit about Hawking. Since he was British he had a slight regret that his computer voice sounded more American. The technology allowed for accents eventually but by that time Stephan knew that people were used to the original robot voice and chose not to switch it. Now I am wondering what a British computer voice would sound like.

For some reason, I started thinking how funny it would be if instead of a synthesized voice, they'd have used pre-recorded snippets from John Cleese and/or Graham Chapman.

I was always amazed that he survived as long as he did with this horrible disease. RIP Professor.

Read that his funeral will be held tomorrow, Saturday, March 31, 2018, at a private ceremony in Cambridge at the Church of St Mary the Great. Also, according to the article, his ashes will be interred (later this year) next to the grave of Sir Isaac Newton at Westminster Abbey—an honor indeed.

Brings to mind a quote from the movie About Schmidt (2002).

"Once I am dead and everyone who knew me dies too, it will be as though I never existed."

Can’t help but think that even after everyone who knew him dies—it in no way will be as though he never existed--history will remember.
