بحث The Big Bang Theory

When Sheldon and Amy were playing chess he let her win because he was trying to show her he could change.

--I could never just LET another person (adult) win—even when there is nothing at stake but bragging rights.

--But, I have fudged a game every now and then when playing with nieces, nephews, etc.

Have you/would you LET someone/your-significant-other win a game/beat you in a competition—for whatever reason?

What say you?

Only a couple of times when I was bored with a game or lost interest in it and knew that it would go on much longer than wanted to contribute to it.

Like in the recent episode where Leonard checked various moves until Sheldon said "I'll win in one move." To which Leonard responded "Awww. Good game!"

I've never thrown a game with adults, but just recently I took a dive while playing pool with a 10-year-old. blush

NEVER. Im a competitive person by nature and I get it from my Dad. My Dad wouldn't even let me beat him in Chess when I was a child.

The first time I beat him was the last time we ever played!

If someone is playing against someone they don't mind losing to, I guess hanging in there long after the thrill is gone, and their eyes have glazed over, just isn’t worth it to them.

A poster (Knixon) mentioned a Leonard-Sheldon game. Don’t think Leonard would have been so lackadaisical if his opponent had been, say, Kripke instead of TheBigBaby.

I believe in giving a kid a break--as long as you are NOT obvious about it. By not being obvious, I mean the kid must have the ability to come out on top--even if they haven't yet.

Your Dad sounds like a friend of mine. Adult--NO MERCY! Kid--NO MERCY!

As for your Dad never playing you again--hope you were THOROUGHLY sportsman-like in your victory! sunglasses

Nope , the first time I beat him I was thirteen. When he realized the checkmate was coming he just knocked over his king and went to bed.

For a week I didn't let him live it down .

Leonard had other things on his mind. And he and Penny were having some problems, it was "The Romance Recalibration," season 10 episode 13.

Don't really remember all the goings-on of the episode—also; kind of surprised it was so "recent".

Anyway, my recall (kinda faded, no doubt) of that scene is that ALL Leonard seemed to want from that game was for it to be OVER!
