For those who aren't aware, animal lovers and dog afficianados , the Westminster dog show airs tonight. I think it's downright criminal that Kaley Cuoco has not hosted this show yet.
Imagine Kaley rattling off the stats of a Bichon Frisse ! Nobody has the resume that she has. She's donated countless dollars and advocated for animal adoption. She's hosted the puppy bowl , she's the definition of a true dog lover. I'd be willing to sign a petition to get her hosting this thing next year.
Anyway does anyone feel like this is the most underhyped Valentine's day of all time? I've barely seen any decorations in my local stores.
Finally here's some questions for you guys
1) Do you own a dog and is he or she well behaved and obedient enough to win best in show ( hopefully handed a doggy bone trophy by Kaley next year?)
Why is there no Westminster Cat show? Or a Westminster Goldfish show?
Would people try to exploit that Saber-toothed Tigers are cats?
2) Do you celebrate Valentine's day or do you think it's a conspiracy created jointly by the flower and candy industries to siphon easy money from the masses?
3) It seems like Valentine's day is the only holiday where it's history is neglected. Why don't people seem to care about St. Valentine and the religious origins of the celebration?
Thoughts?

You are right about the decorations. Not too many as I can see.
1) No pets here. Not even a ferret.
2) Or a Westminster Ferret Sow.
3) Saber Tooth Tigers are cats ! Better get a bigger litter box.
4) Ask Amy. It was invented by Geoffrey Chaucer. Maybe. Who knows. Why don't we celebrate The St. Valentines Day Massacre Day instead ?
http://www.gotmedieval.com/2009/02/happy-valentines-from-geoffrey-chaucer.html
5) Because the history is confusing and ends with a dead Valentine. There is more than one St. Valentine and even the Catholic Church doesn't call him a Saint anymore, which could be a good thing.
6) I might not have a Valentines this year but that won't stop me from binge watching the Hallmark Channel.
7) By the way the emperor at the time of St. Valentine was Claudius Gothicus. Any relation to our Gothy here? Better not cross her or I might end up like Valentine

In the meantime...
Have we forgotten about Kaley's dog AND that faux pas with the flag!

Do you own a dog and is he or she well behaved and obedient enough to win best in show? No. But I hope to have a dog by the end of the year. I will be getting him/her as a puppy, and will be training the dog from Day One.
Why is there no Westminster Cat show? Or a Westminster Goldfish show? Ever hear of 'herding cats' as a metaphor for trying to get people to do something nearly impossible? A 'Cat Show' would be impossible unless they were all caged. Very few cats respond to verbal commands. You'd just end up with a bunch of cats running all over the place.
Do you celebrate Valentine's day or do you think it's a conspiracy created jointly by the flower and candy industries to siphon easy money from the masses?
We stopped celebrating VDay about a year after we were married. Going to a restaurant is irritating, as they are all packed with people, most of whom rarely if ever go out to dinner. Besides, it's essentially "National Sex Day". Why waste time going out? lol.
It seems like Valentine's day is the only holiday where it's history is neglected. Why don't people seem to care about St. Valentine and the religious origins of the celebration?
I don't even consider it a holiday. It's more a 'special day'. Holidays to me are when you don't have to go to work. Like Christmas, July 4th, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, etc... But yes, it's exploited by Hallmark and several other business interests. Here in the MidWest, we also have "Sweetest Day", a 'holiday' completely made up by retailers.

-1. No. Had one; but he is in Dog Heaven now; and haven’t had the urge to get another. No. He was not well-behaved--more likely to lift his hind leg over a trophy than win one. But he was a heck of a watchdog!
As for why there is no Westminster Cat Show – Cats are too independent. You can train a dog to trot along a "Dog Run"--a cat, not so. In order to get a cat to participate in a "Cat Run", it would have to be along the path he was already going. A dog cares about pleasing its owner; so is willing to "oblige"--a cat, not at all.
As for: "Would people try to exploit that Saber-toothed Tigers are cats?" - I need more context...
-2. No. Don’t celebrate. But, don’t consider it a conspiracy either. I badmouth it just because; but, see nothing wrong with celebrating a day when folks go-that-extra-mile for someone they care about.
-3. Well, it’s not as if St. WhatsHisName did anything historically significant.

What context do you need? If you come to a cat show with a tiger aren't you within your rights? :P

"No".
Not the same; that "family tree" diverged a long time ago along the evolutionary-road.

You just try and tell my Saber Toothed Tiger that he is not a cat. He will have you and science for lunch

Dude , Tigers are cats. Tigers ,lynx, cheetah, Leopards, Jaguars, Pumas, all cats. That's a fact.
The family is called "Felidea".
If you're going to quote Masuka actually link some Science in your post.
Tigers were/will/ Are/ will always be unequivocally cats.

Saber-Toothed Tigers are extinct--have been for about 10,000 years.
So, put on some steel-toe boots, and then find the person who sold you Whatever-It-Is you have (pretty sure you can figure out what to do next.)

Ok since you wanna play hard ball let me quote my previous statement.
"What context do you need? If you come to a cat show with a tiger aren't you within your rights? :P"
Your response was no.
Therefore you are wrong.A tiger is a cat. Why are you suddenly clinging to "sabertooth" when I said
"What context do you need? If you come to a cat show with a tiger aren't you within your rights? :P"
You still lost?

"Clinging"? I'm not clinging!
You, obviously, missed a step--otherwise you would have noticed that my "sabertooth" response was in reply to a comment from @znexyish. I didn't say anything to YOU about "sabertooth".
As for your comment: "You still lost?" I'm going to need you to put that in some kind of context.

No pets - my father has a lhasa apso/english bulldog mix - squat, solid bulldog body, lhasa apso face and hair - so cute, but not show-worthy, and that's a good thing - show dogs are inbred freaks.
Nothing wrong with Valentine's Day - my husband and I exchange cards and a few trinkets. He always gets me a plushy - this year was a red cat with glitter ears that I have named Sparkles. Plus a nice heart-shaped box of Godiva chocolates, my favorite. I got him a couple of small folding knives (he's a collector) and some treats. I don't get why people hate on Valentine's Day. If one is alone, then I can understand if you aren't thrilled by it, but it's only one day, it will pass. If you have a significant other who thinks you should shower them with riches and will give you crap if you don't - well, then you may want to have a conversation about lowered expectations.
As for decorations, the local Target and Walmart were loaded with decor, gifts and candy.

Kinda hard to know who's replying to who with everybody's comments jumbled together. Only thing that irks me about this board. Maybe we just directly name the person we reply to?

Read the messages in order, and/or follow the pale aqua lines up to the pale mint green names to find the originator of the post. It does get convoluted the more you quote though - and for some reason CQ's name is not appearing over the "what context do you need?" question, which originates with her, and was in response to FKA asking for context about bringing a tiger to a cat show.
As for the cat show question, there would be strict guidelines just as there are for the dogs - you can't bring a wolf to Westminster, as they are not a recognized dog breed. Requirements are stringent. I would imagine the cat show would have them as well. No matter how "tame", tigers are dangerous animals and would not be a recognized cat breed, and would not be allowed at the cat show. Case closed.
