At least wedding gifts are a type of gift (unlike Christmas) where Sheldon won't feel in anyone's debt! (Hopefully? Maybe?) If you were invited to their wedding, what would you buy them?
Me: A cookbook of recipes involving cut-up hot dogs.

Are you sure Sheldon won't feel indebted ? Do we know what if any gifts Sheldon gave to L/P or H/B.
Sheldon gets a novelty Flash Flash Drive with bitcoin included
Amy gets a frilly apron that says "Little Hausfrau on the Prairie"

That's a good point! What about the people who were married before Sheldon met them, or who never marry? He'll never get to reciprocate! This could become a conundrum indeed. Maybe he needs to hire a bouncer to stand at the gift table and refuse any gifts that will lead to indebtedness. By the way, I think your gift choices are excellent ones.
And thanks for the coupon! I've been needing to stock up on more "Beyond" for a while!!

I did have another question related to wedding gifts, for anyone who might see this:
If you are invited to a bridal shower, do you let the shower gift count as the wedding gift, or do you give a second gift as the “wedding gift”?
I’ve never really known what to do, and have done different things in different cases. For example, with my sister, I gave her a gift at every shower and a separate gift for her wedding because I was so excited for her and loved giving her gifts. But in another case where I barely knew the couple (and am not 100% sure why I was invited to a shower), I let the shower gift serve as the wedding gift.

My gift is a marriage advice book that's completely written in Klingon.

If it's just written in/translated to Klingon, that's one thing. But Amy for sure doesn't want Sheldon taking marriage advice from Klingons.

Did you also go to the wedding? If they are separate events, I give separate gifts. But my feeling is, if one is invited to an event and doesn't attend, then one is not obligated to send a gift. Of course, it may depend on how close you are to the person and the reason for not attending. If you would normally be there but circumstances prevented it, then sending a gift is nice. But not necessary, of course.
I found it interesting when doing research for my wedding that etiquette says that a wedding gift is NOT a necessity and/or requirement, and that couples should not feel slighted if guests don't give them anything. I would never dream of attending a wedding and not giving something. I was surprised at how many people came to our wedding who did not give anything at all, not even a card - family members included!

Thank you for your response Gothish! This has always been a grey area for me. We did not attend the wedding, and the shower gift was quite nice (a nice set of sheets for their bed), so I let that be their "combo" shower/wedding gift. We just weren't really close to them. I think it depends on the situation for sure.
In another instance, though, I was invited to a shower for another couple (and gave a gift), but was not invited to the wedding! They had several large showers and then only invited a small "select" number to the wedding. I thought that was quite tacky, as if to say, "give me a gift but you can't see us get married!" It's amazing to me sometimes the things that some people think are acceptable.

And from everything I've read, if you aren't invited to the wedding, then you should not be invited to the shower! Tacky. You would think that the people planning the shower would pull the guest list from the wedding list!
One of my husband's aunts gave me a beautiful and expensive vase at my shower, but gave nothing for the wedding, even though she did attend. I'm wondering if maybe she intended that gift to cover both? It's not the way the rest of his family does things, but maybe she figured the vase was more than enough. That could explain one of the situations, anyway.

I’m having such a hard time finding the perfect wedding gift for Shamy.
In the meantime, just thought to look up “odd” wedding gifts. Truth IS stranger...; here is a list of some of the Big Day gifts people said they received:
Think the "graduation card" is my personal favorite.

Ha! I love this. I think the bronze kangaroo is my favorite. Reminded me of our former poster Swidgin (from Australia). I always used to tease him and ask him when he was going to mail me a kangaroo. (I hear they're actually awful pests and he implied that, too.)

Glad you enjoyed it.
I guess a lot of folks roll out of bed the-day-of/grab whatever they can lay their hands on/wrap (or not)-and-go!
