As we head into 2018 and are nearing a year since the old board shut down, I have to ask, why can't this board gain traction? Quite a few people have shown up on this board over time, some popping in for a short stint and then disappearing again. I know the format of this board is different, but it's really not that hard to figure out. Both are essentially just websites where you can talk about a show- what's so off-putting about this one?
Possible reasons that came to my mind include:
A)Some people from the old board honestly don't know about this board (though I think more know about it than we might suspect because it was mentioned more than once as the old board was shutting down)
B)People joined but left early on due to lack of traffic
C)Some people chose to mostly lurk
D)Some people got tired of message-boarding
E)The show is not as interesting as it used to be and there is not as much to discuss
F)There is no BLT or equivalent on this board. (The old board in and of itself was kind of like watching a TV show!)
The bottom line is, if people are leaving/only lurking because there is not enough traffic, then the only way to combat that is to start posting more (instead of leaving). Each person has to take the initiative to bolster this site.

I think I'm a pretty frequent poster and I was just doin some research to post a New Year thread. I'll probably post that by the end of the day.
I agree with your ideas, but remember we lost a lot of long time posters to other forums or they just stopped posting. This board needs time to gain a following the same way IMBD needed time to gain a following.
Some of our posts have over 100 replies which shows intriguing topics will gain traction.

Yes, you are a frequent poster and do an awesome job of contributing to this board. In fact, you've been more faithful here than I have. I just meant that I wished those who chose to lurk or step away had instead decided to post more. I just don't think that the difference in format alone should be a good reason to stop posting on a TBBT board.

Happy New Year, Mrs. Lemons.
I think this board is simply not as popular, also most of the imbd refugees went to the same site, called imbd2 something like that. Most of the posters I was friends with from the politics board are over there too, including our every own ,Erica.
This board seems to thrive more when we talk about things that aren't show related.

Happy New Year to you, Arctic Fox!
I'm pretty sure that imdb2 does not have a TBBT board, because I have looked for one there more than once. (I could definitely be wrong, but I've never been able to find one.) And I should specify that I'm asking about why the BBT board here can't gain more traction (not the site as a whole). However, I see what you're saying- more people from imdb probably went to imdb2 than anywhere else.
And you're right- the threads with > 100 posts are OT's. Maybe I should go back to my old OT ways, but I think I already started every OT under the sun. Let's see, OT: What is your opinion on eggplant?
Hmmm... this will take some thinking to be original.

It's actually Film boards that most of the imbd posters moved to, not imbd 2, and I'm over there too. You can link your imbd account to film boards, it's essentially the same site without movie pages. All the old boards we had are there.

So there's a TBBT board there? Are any former regulars there?

I sure did 😊 . My roommate has everything on Blu Ray so I could just watch those but I love rewatching it on TV.

But those posts are from right before the boards closed. Is there a current TBBT board at film boards?

This is the same board. It's like that because we left it that way but we CAN add new posts!

So basically film boards managed to save some of the boards that Imbd closed down. Maybe we can migrate over there.

I guess my only concern is further splintering the group that is at this site. Maybe we should get some feedback from the current regulars here.
Also, I'm not sure how other former posters would know we were there, unless they came here first and saw this thread. It's not so much the old format I miss, but the volume of traffic. I'm open to whatever the group as a whole wants to do, though.

I don't mind posting both places but I have to make an account. Most of the regulars I remember don't post anymore. Murph, PK Larkins, Woodmage , Youmightrabbityoumight-, etc. Those are the folks we need back.
The only people in that " Core" of posters who are still regulars are you, Mrs. Gothish and Erica.

I don't think we should post in both places because we risk splintering. I think either here or there.
Znex was also someone I consider to have been a core member of the old TBBT board, who is here regularly. Actually, I'm 100% sure that Knixon and FormerlyKnownAs were also core members of the old board, although they changed their names. We've got several core regulars here, I just wish we had more, and that people like Murph, Tim, Kiwi, Massy and Lady, who have accounts on this board visited us more often.
And of course I'd like for some of the other former regulars to come around, too.

After thinking on this a while, I think the problem is that I'm too nostalgic. As many of you know, I'm much like Sheldon in the "wanting homeostasis" department. I suppose I hoped that in posting this thread, those who are lurking or who only post occasionally would see it and be moved to post more. The thing is, if they wanted to- they already would be, and I shouldn't try to pressure them to.
Anyway, I look forward to talking about the show and all matter of other things with those who would like to and find it fun.
