Here are a variety of questions that came to mind while watching the most recent episode. Please feel free to share your thoughts on any or all.
1.Leonard has an Ewok in his bed. Sheldon has Chewbacca. What stuffed animal/creature did you sleep with as a kid? (I won't make anyone admit to it as an adult.)
Me: I slept with a Snoopy.
2.Penny made a couple of remarks during the opening sequence that weren't particularly kind. For example she stated that she didn't care that Halley had thrown up on Leonard's Ewok, and then implied that since they were no longer talking about sex that the conversation should turn to Amy. If you could describe the transition of Penny from Season 1 to Season 11 in terms of Smurfs, is it accurate to say she has transitioned from wide-eyed Smurfette to jaded Grumpy Smurf? Or is that way off base?
Me: Maybe that's a bit too drastic, but she was Grumpy Smurf during the lead-in scene!
3.Amy billed her coffee machine to the university as Eduardo, her Colombian lab assistant. Do you think that a lot of money spent on research (in reality) probably is thrown down the drain on such expenses?
Me: Yep!
4.Tangent question from #3. When you are asked to "donate a dollar to _______ awareness" or "donate a dollar to ________ research", like at the grocery store, what do you think of that? Are you more likely to donate to research than to awareness?
Me: It depends on the cause. Some causes I think you'd have to live on another planet not to be aware of them by now, so I'd be more likely to donate if it were for research. But I'd wonder if my money was really going to fund a coffee machine.

Maybe it's just me, but I was thinking Amy was referring to herself.
(And I don't think their - Penny's old - bed is big enough for anything/anyone else.)

Lemons , I love your threads.
1: As a child my bed was covered with stuffed animals to the point where you couldn't see the bed underneath. All types of animals, bears giraffes, rabbits, dogs, cats, badgers you name it. I used to use them as an audience for one woman plays that I wrote( in crayon) and performed for my parents, with music and everything. My mother still has some of them on tape that I haven't burned yet.
2: She definitely developed a more blunt approach with Leonard.
3: Yes, I know from experience. Part of my job is lab research . Funds can be very.......... Flexible.
4: I usually don't donate unless I know for sure where my money is going.

As a kid, I really don't remember - but I will freely admit that I currently sleep with a red bear and a tan dog, both gifts from my husband.
Is there a Sarcastic Smurf?
Oh most definitely!
Generally I try to donate to established charities , ones that I can reasonably be sure are doing good.

1: Stuffed animals weren't my cup of tea, I would bring a flashlight to bed and use it to read comic books after lights out.
2: She's Snarky smurfette
3: I think that's an open secret.
4: I donate to my Alma Matter when I'm feeling school pride AKA when they send me requests for Money in the mail. I also donate to the race track when I'm feeling lucky.

Probably not a lot--but definitely some. I've never worked in a place where there wasn't at least some slight-of-hand going on between what's real and what's billed.
Gotta say, I really identified with Amy’s coffee pot shenanigans—everyone knows that as long as you give your “project” an official sounding title you can almost always get the
to part with a few
.
Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Our Division picnic is billed as an off-site staff development workshop.

Howard wanted me to remind you it's sleight-of-hand.
Magician types can get picky about things like that. But I think he'll be okay.
At one of my first computer programming jobs, the upper managers kept wanting to keep the "accounting months" open so they could add in more sales to make things look better. But then you can end up running out of year before you have 12 "accounting months." Maybe "month" 12 is only a week or less. And it messed up the rest of the books. To try and make the point, the accounting manager and I made up the idea of using some transfer accounts which were labeled "Graft And Corruption." How were we supposed to know that the managers would take the balance sheet and income statement reports to the bank to secure a loan, without looking at them?
Fun times.

Kernixon, I think sometimes you need to sit on your hands.
Your story that followed was pretty interesting, though.

First, I bet you are the most adorable Gothish ever sleeping with your red bear and tan dog. I sleep with an orange cat, but she is alive and likes her belly rubbed at 5AM.
And in my thread, you can name a smurf anything you want.

Erica, I'm glad you still love my threads. As long as the show keeps throwing me nuggets of oddity on which to cling, I'll keep creating threads about them.
And I bet you were an awfully cute li'l thing performing your plays for your stuffed animals. It conjures a picture in my mind of you being like a little Snow White, singing amongst your woodland creatures.

1.Of course a teddy bear is OK! This is not like a quiz show where certain answers will send you falling through a trap door. And I think you should seriously consider making your avatar a Quisp.
2.How am I supposed to know the time and place of Ewok origination? Why, it could have been purchased at a plethora of locations at any point in time! While I do know many things, I am not all-knowing. If I was, I'd know what the heck a Znex is. Speaking of names, I think you should start a thread where we all have to find a name for Stuart's store. We've never discussed that before and in this day and time, finding an un-discussed-topic is like finding a corn cob in a pile of lawn clippings.
3.Girard the titillating toothbrush. You're right, the list goes on and on.
4.Your sentence was like a palindrome. I've always thought that the word palindrome sounded like a Roman building with columns. As in, "Hail Caesar! Would you care to take in a play with me today at the palindrome?"
And no "I slept with a Snoopy" is not the name of my autobiography. Silly. Though, "I once knew a Znex" is on the short list.

*Neither. *
When it comes to donations, I’m strictly: hard-causes. The words “Research” and “Awareness” will never find a home in one of my checkbooks.
