If the “why Farrah” question ever came up—I also missed it/or don't remember it. As to why she uses it, maybe there was another Dr. Amy Fowler, or Dr. Amy F. Fowler floating about, so she used “Farrah” as a distinguisher. (Although, truth is, I can picture her using it from the day she learned to speak it.)

When it comes to being named after “Fawcett”—I doubt it. Amy’s Mom seems like such a prude, that no way can I picture her naming her daughter for ; especially a Hefner alumni.

A “new” middle name is kind of hard because it has to sound good with the rest. I’d go with something regal (maybe it's the tiara thing): “Elizabeth”. It has a nice ring to it, pairs(?) well with the rest, and has a pleasant roll-off-the-tongue feel to it.

I think they chose it for alliterative appeal. Like mine is Elizabeth; the alliteration sounds good for a professional title.

Great answers so far! I just always found it a bit funny because I associate Farrah with Farrah Fawcett, and Amy is basically the opposite. I just wondered if that was the joke.

I like the middle name as is. She could change the spelling to Fara Faucet. Fara would be short for Faraday as in Sheldon approved scientist Michael Faraday and faucet for faucet. This would imply a new invention called the Faraday Faucet.
She is eventually going to be Amy Farah Fawcett-Cooper or Amy Farrah Cooper. That is not very alliterative. She could change her name then to Amy Caraway Closet-Cooper. I remember bringing this up on the old board once as well.

I like the Fara spelling, as in Faraday. And you're right, when she marries, unless she keeps her own last name, the alliteration will be gone. Perhaps we could give each other alliterative names. Let's see, what else starts with Z...
