when they were talking about the model Saturn 5 rocket and Howard said "What do you say, you and me build this rocket?"

This one might have slipped by, but then there is so much correcting Sheldon we can take. Maybe the shows writers didn't know the proper use. Or since most of Sheldon's reading is comic books and academic papers he didn't know the difference either.

Me don;t know. Me wonder'ed the same thing. It also occurred to I, like Znex mentioned, that the writer's did not know the correct usage either,. So perhaps its there fault.

Maybe one of the grammarians here can precisely explain why "you and I", is preferable to "you and me".

Because of that adrenaline rush he got when Howard asked him.
He got so excited over being asked that it made him oblivious to how he was asked?
After all, we are not talking about a split infinitive here. Such an error would cause him to undoubtedly have a fit.

Not sure I qualify as a grammarian, but - at least as a quick test - I always understood it was an issue of whether it still worked properly if one of the "and" subjects was removed. With "Sheldon and I went to the store" you get "Sheldon went to the store" which is correct, or "I went to the store" which is also correct. The two forms both agree. With "Sheldon and me went to the store" the two parts are "Sheldon went to the store" is correct, but "Me went to the store" is not.

I think laid back Sheldon is starting the slow takeover.

seriously? It isn't a preference, it is a rule.

Rule for the rest of the world; preference (poetic license) for writers.

Thank you.
It also applies the other way: If the sentence is like "Do you want to go to the store with Sheldon and me?" that becomes correct using "me" because "Do you want to go to the store with Sheldon?" and "Do you want to go to the store with me?" are both correct. "Do you want to go to the store with Sheldon and I?" doesn't work because the "Do you want to go to the store with I?" part is not correct.

It's best not to encourage these people. They are like that fungus Stuart can't shake; and when it comes to posting on the boards they are second only to trolls on the long-walk-short-pier list.

Understandable, but I do have to say that Knixons response made it clear to me. I understand that grammar rules seem arbitrary but hope that there is some reason behind them. thanks anyways.

How does answering a question with facts equate to someone being a troll?

What; someone said answering a question with facts equates to someone being a troll? I must have missed it.
