I am trying to do an analysis of something about the show, and I wonder if you would help me. I will share with you my conclusions once I have your answers, but if I share my hypothesis now, it might affect how you answer.
Question: What is your favorite episode of TBBT and what particular scene in it made it your favorite?
(If you don't have a favorite episode, please pick one of your favorites. If it is hard to pick one particular scene, please pick one of your favorite scenes.)
I will let everyone know what I'm getting at once several answers have come in- probably tomorrow or Friday. Thank you!

Thanks FKA and Knixon for your two posts above. I'm a bit behind on my posting, but agreed with a lot of what you said. My job is to audit clinical trials (boring right?), so when I hear repeated complaints of declining quality, my brain goes to trying to find the root cause. This was just one possible root cause for the repeated complaints of decreased quality that we have heard about the show- especially on the old board.

Have many faves, but just re-watched Howard's letter from his dad episode. Thought that worked well from start to finish. And the whole gang was together for most of it. The scene when they all give Howard a different version of what was in the letter and Leonard says - Well, one of them is true - has stuck with me. So I'm going with that. For now. Until I re-watch another episode.

That qualifies as another episode where they actually did stuff, not just talked about it after.

I have to believe that it was Bernie who had the real letter because as Howie's wife she would have had to have the honor. Don't remember what she said though.

Bernie might not have had the real story for exactly that reason. And I think the only thing we can be sure of is that Sheldon's story WASN'T true. Which reduces the odds somewhat, but still the other stories all seemed rather credible.

You may not believe in one-eyed Willie, but I do!

Wasn't that answer more suitable for the other thread, something about snickering?

I think it was Penny's version. Howard's dad had to leave because of a mysterious 2nd life. Maybe they'll re-visit this? Whoops, not trying to hijack your thread Lemons. Your query is interesting.
I won't bring up Peg-Leg Antoine. Or battery powered toys.

We know he wound up with a second life, but is that why he left, or did that happen later? It doesn't seem like it was all that secret or mysterious either, except maybe to Howard. His mother seemed to be aware of things, and it wasn't difficult for the lawyer to get in touch after her death to arrange things with the house.
Do battery-powered toys have one eye?

Okay Knixon settle down. Or are you referring to that "battery operated chew toy" that Sheldon found. See what you did here. Now I'm doing it.

Ha! No one ever needs to apologize for hijacking one of my threads.
And Peg-Leg Antoine! How could I have forgotten that name? I wish Sheldon's dreams two episodes ago had included him giving wedding planning advice!
"ARRRGH, matey! Don't go gettin' married on the side of a cliff! Shiver me timbers you'll fall to your doom!"
Maybe the writers could come up with something better...
