محادثة The Big Bang Theory

I am trying to do an analysis of something about the show, and I wonder if you would help me. I will share with you my conclusions once I have your answers, but if I share my hypothesis now, it might affect how you answer.

Question: What is your favorite episode of TBBT and what particular scene in it made it your favorite?

(If you don't have a favorite episode, please pick one of your favorites. If it is hard to pick one particular scene, please pick one of your favorite scenes.)

I will let everyone know what I'm getting at once several answers have come in- probably tomorrow or Friday. Thank you!

I'm sure you'll get some great answers, but I think mine still remains The Hot Troll Deviation. Every plotline worked, and even the people not heavily involved in it get some great lines. Obviously it marks the return of Bernadette on a permanent basis (although not exactly the Bernadette we now know). And the battle between Raj and Sheldon over the desk was a riot.

And there were the cameos, of course.

Thanks Murph! Do you have an absolute favorite scene in that episode? For example, if you had to choose between the Howard/Katie Sackhoff/George Takei scene(s) and the Sheldon/Raj fight over the desk? Thanks for helping me collect my data. slight_smile

Favorite Episode: "The Misinterpretation Agitation"--S8E7 with Billy Bob Thornton as Dr. Lorvis.

Favorite Scene: The guy's introduction to Dr. Lorvis' Fortress Of Solitude—like kids-in-a-candy-store!

Thanks FKA! That's very helpful!

Ugh, that's the problem. Three scenes in that were just so hysterical, I can't decide. Both sets of cameo scenes where Howard tries to deny he has latent homosexual fantasies (yet George is there!), then George trying to convince him a woman wants to be courted slowly ("How would YOU know?" "I read!"). But then you've got Raj totally owning Sheldon regarding the desk, I couldn't stop laughing.

Sorry, Lemons. It's just so damn funny!

That's ok Murph! I'll just use all three in my data analysis.

I love that scene too! Thanks Z! I'll wait until tomorrow to let people know what I've been wondering.

Wasn't she actually reacting to the fact that she initially went along with it thinking it was an okay idea? And then it hit her.

Thank you to Murph, FKA and Znex for answering my question.

Hypothesis: Earlier in the series we frequently saw the gang’s quirkiest/most unusual adventures first-hand (ex: ball pit, LOTR ring conundrum, stealing the Raiders movie reels, the list goes on and on). Now we are often hearing about them after the fact, told while sitting in either Leonard/Penny or Sheldon/Amy’s apartment (ex: Sheldon’s supposed adventure in a cowboy bar, Sheldon’s apparent adventure wearing flip-flops, etc.). I hypothesize that people’s favorite scenes will have been first-hand viewings of zany adventures/quirky circumstances. We need more of those again.

Data collected: Murph’s favorite scenes: George Takei/Katie Sackhoff/Howard scenes in Howard’s bed and car, Raj and Sheldon in Sheldon’s office with the huge desk/hidden snake.
FKA: The guys entering Dr. Lorvis’ Fortress of Solitude.
Znex: Penny slamming shut the laptop after a show-long frolic about her temporary descent into gaming addiction.

Conclusion: Stop sittin’ on LP/AS’s couches talkin’ about what you did and get out and show us some more stuff up close!

Feel free to refute/poke holes. It was just a thought I had one day while eating a cookie. Thank you.

I agree with your hypothesis. Just hope that a Chinese, Swedish or someplace else ese or ish doesn't try to steal your data and I am not talking about Data from Star Trek data.

And now for something completely something you asked for

The Love Song of J Alfred Legume

I saw a legume by the light of the moon
Such a lovely legume that it made me swoon
My heart went zoom and sang a tune
For the legume I saw by the light of the moon
Was I a loon to swoon for that legume?
That I saw by the light of the moon
So, I started to croon for that legume
Until it was noon
And there was no moon
Just a legume
Just my lovely legume
And I thought it a boon to see such a legume
And soon it was no longer noon
It was time for the moon
To shine on my legume
My lovely legume
Now I know that there are more words and phrases that rhyme with ooom
the sound at the end of legume
Like escape room and cast a rune and Fenymans van going ka-boom and Fin Fang Foom and Sheldon's Loom
But that is for another poem for a legume
So there is your legume poem Lemons

Znex, thank you for my lovely poem (and also for not scoffing at my hypothesis). I can be a bit of a demanding Lemon sometimes because I know you will always deliver something that will make me smile. So now I have identified two things that our world needs more of: more first-hand adventures on The Big Bang Theory and more smiles. Well, and more Znex poems. I still remember the lemon-lime joke you wrote me a long time ago. You always take the time to make me feel special. I sure wish I had saved that joke before IMDb made it go poof!

If you ever want for me to write you a poem just give me a topic and you know I will. Oh, and here's your hug worth 10 thousand 7 hundred and twelventy million Mississippis as promised. ((((((Hug))))))

You can have a snuggie after your next poem.

Not to refute, nor poke holes because I agree that episodes are usually more enjoyable when "they-are-doing"--as opposed to talking about "having-done".

But, sometimes a "having-done" discussion can be just as enjoyable--like the one from the last episode when Sheldon and Amy were sitting on the sofa as he told her about his flip-flop misadventure.

Don't know about those who drive to-and-from; but those of us who commute via public transportation (bus, subway) know that that story was pure gold--AND it was as funny as heck too!

Makes you wonder if it would have been any more enjoyable if we had actually eyes Sheldon as he steered his way through his flip-flop trek.

I don't know that actually seeing the flip-flop adventure would have been more entertaining, but I'm certain that it would have taken longer. And especially these days, show time is increasingly limited and precious.

Are they really just talking about things so much more now, versus actually doing them - such as visiting Feynman's grave, just for one example - or is it more about our fonder memories of earlier seasons, or something along that line? And they also did plenty of just-talking-about-stuff in the earlier seasons too. Maybe we don't remember those as much for various reasons, including that the show is into season 11 now?
