What say us about the drama on Young Sheldon. Did anyone find any of this relatable or moving or emotional in any small way.
Yes it is just the pilot but might it eventually add up to something? Jim Parsons narration? His parents concern. Everyone else seemed to not give a crap.
His brother had a moment on the football field. And the Chicken!! Have you ever seen a scarier chicken?

Even though I did not find the show personally relatable, I did not mind the mixture of comedy and drama. I don't mind the mixture in TBBT these days either. Comedy and drama are both parts of life. And I don't get too caught up in whether something is a "sitcom" or "drama". It's just a "show" to me. As for the chicken, I smiled. An early indicator of why Shelly hates birds! Thank goodness he met Lovey Dovey down the line.

Actually, adult Sheldon had mentioned being attacked by a chicken before.

I agree, but they marketed it as a comedy and it's more like a Dramedy in the same vein as the Goldbergs, The Middle etc. The issue is they didn't make it funny enough.

Sheldon mentioned a chicken more than once, there was Ms Riley's Chicken, and a chicken that chased him up a tree. Probably all the same chicken.

It was EXACTLY as I expected. But, in spite of that I liked it (and the actor playing Young Sheldon) more than I thought I would. I think the lack of a laugh track helped.
Must admit that it reminded me of "The Middle" and "Speechless" and what little I've seen of "The Goldbergs". Not a bad thing--just makes the field a little more crowded.
Also have say that I liked Dad. Based on what I gleaned from Sheldon's anecdotes, instead of someone who is hands-on, I expected a mostly un-involved brewski-chugging-couch-wrangler.

The father isn't really like grown-up Sheldon has described him, is he? I was expecting something like maybe a Hank Williams Sr, but without the music. No doubt they made him the way they did, rather than as Sheldon has described him, because the father Sheldon described would be pretty horrible.

And if you are going to take a character like Sheldon, who is annoying but tolerable only because of the humor, and then cut back on or remove the humor, all you are left with is an irritating character. No matter that he's a child.
