We did not get to hear Amy say "yes". We were robbed! Yay or nay?
My response is yay. Only because she has wanted this for so long and I would have loved to see her accept. (Still I think they handled the engagement story quite well overall last night.)

Yes you are right. We were robbed. At least have Amy and Leonard and Penny tells us. I would have also liked for Amy to tell Sheldon the engagements off until he starts to consider someone else besides himself especially to her dinner guests.

To be fair, the whole conversation became so convoluted in order to make the joke about Sheldon interrupting the moment, her answer became anti-climactic.

It was so cleverly done that I'm ok with missing the yes. Agree that overall it was handled well. An enjoyable open to the season!

I say "Yay"; but felt more surprised than robbed that it went that way.
I'm thinking it could have been because:
(1) They just love to *&$! with fans?
(2) They couldn't think of a way to top "It’s a tiara"?
(3) They knew nothing they could write would ever, ever, ever live up to the imagination-frenzy of fans who had whipped themselves into a hyper-froth imagining HOW Amy was going to react?
(4) They tape before a live audience; and didn't want to have to call in the riot squad to clear-the-room?
(5) All the above?

Well, within the show, Sheldon would figure they would be more interested in hearing from him that she said yes, rather than hear her say it.

I like the off-screen yes because of it's "Show don't tell " merits. It made for a better season opener rather than a scene of her screaming and jumping around.

I don't know if those were Chuck's reasons or not, but I especially like #2!
