It only took me five years, but I got a full-time job in the Chicago Public School system as a computer teacher. Hopefully now I can budget my time better. And I'll be ready to comment next Monday, natch.
Wow, health insurance. What's that like? I forgot...

Congratulations ,Murph. Right now I'm balancing full time work (Med Research )with student teaching on the side, it's a grind.
In a few years I predict you'll be running the school.

Also:
Forgot to say Congrats!!!! on landing one with bennies. A powerful incentive—after all, who knows who would be playing Amy Farrah Fowler were it not for that strong motivator.
MADE MYSELF CURIOUS:
According to an article I read there were seven canidates for the role of Amy. Of the remaining six, Raj's girlfriend "Lucy" is the only name I could find.
Can anyone name-names when it comes to the other five Potentials?
Thanks.

So, Kate Micucci could have been Amy? That would have been interesting!

Considering how much "hate" the Lucy character generated on that NotToBeNamed Board, can't see Micucci having anywhere the same run as Bialik. Of course, since fan-hate has never moved Team Chucky, probably wouldn't have in that case either.
I'm one of the few from the old Board that liked Micucci in the role; still, have to admit she does not have the screen presence that Bialik has.
As for a list of other candidates, I guess it is such old
no one but them remembers.

Micucci plays herself in every role. Her jittery presence is as innate as Pescis wise guy and Goldblum's neurosis. Mayim was born to play Amy.

Well, you can say that Mayim was born to play Amy as she has been presented. Kate would have played a DIFFERENT Amy. I suspect they wouldn't have even done so much with the three-word "Amy Farrah Fowler" emphasis if Kate had been saying it instead.
There's no sense trying to imagine Kate in all the same scenes, written the same way, as Mayim's Amy has been. Clearly the episodes would have been different, and the entire series progression likely changed. Kate's Amy might have even only lasted a short time, and then some other character brought in to replace her. Someone not even NAMED Amy. (To borrow from Sheldon's line about moving to a place that doesn't even end in -dena.)
Maybe they could have had Kate be Amy for a season or two, then Mayim comes in as someone different to take her place with Sheldon. I just think it would have been interesting to see how that worked out with Sheldon, although it might have made it impossible for then Kate to be Lucy with Raj. Unless maybe that happened after she and Sheldon broke up, which could also have been entertaining.
imdb used to include things like who else auditioned for roles, but I haven't bothered to check if they have things like that for the Amy character.

I liked Kate Micucci as Lucy too. I liked her and Raj together and thought that they could have done a lot with the character. But I guess she was just a means to an end and not intended to be a semi-regular.

Congrats Murph!
I'm going on 3 and a half months not working, as my position with my company was eliminated. Took a severance package and have been thoroughly enjoying my time off, but soon I will have to attempt to get back to the grind. Still not quite old enough for retirement, lol. Would love to push this break through until after the holidays, but financially it would be a stretch. In the meantime, I'm loving every minute of it.

Knixon, I agree that Micucci would have played a different Amy, however I doubt it would be an Amy an audience could enjoy. She's personable in interviews and funny but as an actress she's pretty rangeless. The Amy character simply because of how she brings human qualities out of Sheldon, needs to have some depth.

Heck that could be the reason Sheldon breaks up with Kate-as-Amy and looks for someone else. Even after all his years of basically wanting to be a robot, he finds that he needs a human companion that's more.... human (Kirk chokes back a tear).
I never claimed that Kate-as-Amy would have worked for 7 seasons, but she could have made a definite, positive contribution to the overall flow.
