One thing I noticed in the promos for Young Sheldon is that in one Prof. Proton is seen on television wearing a bow tie. In another promo Young Sheldon is seen running around looking for a bow tie because he says that Prof. Proton wears a bow tie. But in "The Proton Resurgence" in "The Big Bang Theory" Prof Proton wears a straight tie and even in the autographed photo that Sheldon got from Prof. Proton he is wearing a straight tie. Is it because Bill Nye wears a bow tie? But then neither Sheldon nor Prof. Proton seem to like Bill Nye. Or is it because stereotypical nerds wear bow ties? Also I wonder how Young Sheldon will go from buttoned up shirts and bow ties to Old Sheldon wearing short sleeve comic book and novelty t-shirts worn over long sleeve t-shirts. I have some bow ties and kind of remember how to tie them properly.
By the way for you tie wearers here. Bow or Straight ? Hand tied, having someone else tie them for you, or clip-on ?

I'm just going to weigh in here and say that I love a man in a bow tie, especially when it's worn in a dressy-casual manner. Jeans or khakis, a casual button down, bowtie and casual vest - so hot!

I have ties in every color, all business approariate. My wife has tried to get me to try bow ties but I've never been a fan. She fancies herself my personal stylist, and she likes to put my ties on for me right before I leave for work.
I only know the simplest way, she knows all types of fancy knots than take me half an hour to unravel when I get home.
