I think they're going save the the Sheldon and Amy wedding for the end of the show, so Amy HAS to say no now. Otherwise we get a multi-season engagement and no direction for the relationship to go. In essence they write themselves into a Corner.
I'd rather she say no now then have an obvious filler " call off the engagement" plotline when they realize they want to save it as the last bullet in the chamber.
One of the pittfalls of having a great show that runs long is you're forced to save your best for last which can hurt the stuff in between and make it feel like pure filler.
BTW: Erica my dear, have you caught up on Game of Thrones yet? Should I call you @CalabrianKhaleesi now?

Well, it's Chuck Lorre. Maybe they'll all get trapped by The Big One (earthquake) and Sheldon will eat the others in exactly the order he told Amy in "Escape Hatch." Then HE can die happy, which is all that matters to him.
Well, except he didn't win the Nobel Prize. Dang!

She's not a pretty girl any more, but she is still a beautiful woman now.

Im inclined to disagree with you guys about Kaley. IMO she hasn't lost her looks at all, and she's the only woman on the show who doesn't look like they picked out clothes at random.
Shes been a looker since her "Simple Rules " days and Bless the lucky bastard who's dating her.

I agree that the Shamy wedding will have to wait just to stretch things out till the end of the season. I would prefer that the show itself doesn't end with the wedding, and I can't see there not being a Mr and Ms Cooper-Fowler.
But what about Leonard and Penny. I don't see anything happening with them. Penny changing jobs again ? Going back to acting ? Leonard reconciling with Beverly ? Nothing sounds all that promising.
Howard and/or Bernie doesn't sound all that promising either unless they come up with something unexpected and good.
Now if anyone has been painted into a corner it is Raj. Another girlfriend storyline ? Been there done that.
Ms Gunderson hasn't lost her looks at all if you ask me

Johnny Galecki was arguably better off with Kelli Garner, another serious hottie. But still, there's nothing really drab about Kaley!

The end should be another Bob Newhart dream.

Makes it sounds as if this is "The Shamy Show". That is, as if the lifeblood of the show hinges on Amy's yes or no.
--I remember when I thought that Leonard pining for Penny was such a big part of the show’s ID that they wouldn’t dare put them together permanently until the end of the show. Yet, they did—and the stories continued.
--Also, I probably was the most surprised person on the planet when Sheldon finally had coitus. I would have bet money that if such a thing ever happened it would be end-of-show-only. Yet, he did and the stories continued.
Saying all that to say even though we may be focusing on the proposal storyline, that doesn't mean the writing team will be doing the same. The show has dozens and dozens of creative people to draw from (the list of writers, by itself, fills a whole page)—no doubt, they can continue to captivate BEYOND the outcome of this single storyline.

I predict the End Of The Show will be when Sheldon finally decides on a new game console.
Oh, wait.
When he decides on a new laptop! That's it!
Dang.

I don't believe Shamy is the Be-all-end-all if my statements came across that way. But I also don't believe they're going to have them engaged for the duration of the show simply because it Robs them of plot.
What do you do with engaged characters on a show that will likely last 4-5 more seasons, a show that lacks finality? I don't see any way to go beyond break up and make up over and over.
