Honestly I'm expecting a let down with this show purely based on the preview I saw. It feels like "Wonder Years Texas".

It will obviously get ratings early on from the curious but I don't see it lasting multiple seasons.

Also, do you think there will be any acknowledgement of the Biblical flood going on in Houston right now?

I think having the BBT stars in an infomercial pre show just mention the tragedy and donation options would be a nice gesture considering it's Jim Parson's home city.

I didn't think it was possible but just from what I've seen in the ads, 'young Sheldon' and the kid who plays him are way more annoying than than the grownup Sheldon (and he is the most annoying TV character in recent memory).

I think I will avoid the show. There is enough Sheldon in TBBT already. He doesn't need even more attention. I think it will be a cute little show but I can see it already.

Young Sheldon says something sciency, Sheldon's siblings say something snarky, kids at school are mean, teachers are put off by him, Mary is reassuring and Sheldon's father gives him some words of wisdom. End of episode and repeat.

As for the biblical flood I believe Alfred and Mary have something to say about that...

Mary: So Alfred, what is it that you do for a living?
Alfred: Oh, I’m an anthropologist. I study ancient peoples and cultures.
Mary: MY goodness, so all the way back to the Flood.
Alfred: Well, on that note there are many cultures that have an apocalyptic flood as a part of their mythology.
Mary: I don’t have a mythology. I have the unerring Word of God. But that’s very interesting.

Episode - The Convergence Convergence

Exactly. It will end up being a carbon copy of Manny's lesson of the day from Jay Pritchett in Modern Family. That is not a formula I'd like to see washed, rinsed and repeated.

Really is kind of a hard one; since I don't think "Old" Sheldon fans are the target-audience for this new show.

I've only seen one clip--wasn't impressed by the kid playing Young Sheldon; but, would watch (at least) the premiere episode to see if there is any "substance" there. I think a lot of fans, et al. will be doing the same.

Do I think it will find its audience?

A fish out of water kid already has that built-in root-for-the-underdog factor going for him. So, if the young actor can pull off "likable" in spite of having (this is Sheldon we are talking about) some (no doubt) annoying characteristics, I'd say, yes.

AND; if it's funny!
