Was looking for stuff on the new Showrunner—Steve Holland— who is replacing Molaro now that he has moved over to helm “Young Sheldon”; but, stopped at this instead.
List of top TBBT guest stars:
-12. Stan Lee
-11. Stephen Hawking
-10. Adam West
-9. LeVar Burton
-8. Neil deGrasse Tyson
-7. Billy Bob Thornton
-6. Wil Wheaton
-5. Steve Wozniak
-4. Leonard Nimoy
-3. Carrie Fisher
-2. James Earl Jones
-1. Bob Newhart
--Surprised that “Lee” came in so low; expected him, at least, to be in the top 5—same with “Hawking”.
--Had forgotten that “Fisher” was on the show—maybe because it was little more than a cameo— would rank "Tyson" over her**.
--Isn’t it a misnomer to call “Wheaton” a guest—shouldn’t his status be upgraded to recurring by now?
--Surprised that “Nimoy” made the list—since he was voice-only.
--Not at all surprised about “Newhart”—expected him to be #1 even before I started reading the list.
Any surprises—blatant omissions?
What say you?

i guess Newhart was worried that the audience wouldn't recognize him the first episode when they open on him sitting on his suitcase at the top of the stairs. I still love Newhart and still laugh out loud at his jokes. I think I am rare one though, haha.

Summer I can take or leave, because she was merely there to exist and drive the guys nuts. But Katee and George definitely have to be in there. Most of the comedy in The Hot Troll Deviation comes from them.
BERNADETTE: What's George Takei doing here?
KATEE: Howard, do you have latent homosexual fantasies?
HOWARD: No, of course not!
GEORGE: So you say. Yet, here I am!
And of course...
GEORGE: No, no, no. A woman wants to be wooed. Courted slowly.
KATEE: How you YOU know?
GEORGE: I read!

I rank them above ALL those people, including Nemoy, Newhart and Jones. As a matter of fact, I prefer E -list Alessandra Torresani over them too, but that's just my Italian roots and bias showing 😜.

Well; if Wright is still all that 55+ years from now, I guess we'll have to revisit this discussion--so that I can agree with you.

Wright is already 61. He only needs another 26 years to be where Newhart is now.

Not talking age; talking successful years in the business.
But, whatever the difference--STILL willing to re-visit and re-discuss at the appropriate time.

I'm not big on guest stars, because I tune in to see TBBT, not cameo's and guest stars. But I think the one that was handled the best was Leonard Nimoy. What did Carrie Fisher do to be rated 2nd?? Had she not died, she wouldn't rate that high. And I don't give people credit for dying, since all of us will do that sooner or later.
Like many others, I don't really dig Newhart all that much, and hope we've seen the last of him. The fact they had him die on the show made the Proton character even worse IMO. And it totally limits him to interacting in Sheldon's dreams. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
But for an omission, I'm stunned that Judd Nelson wasn't listed. I'd say maybe it's because he didn't play himself, but then again, neither did Newhart. And I agree, Takie and Sakoff should be listed. That episode was a hoot.

I think he meant Hirsch....unless I'm nuts and there was a BBT Breakfast Club parody episode I didn't see.
I've mixed up my Judd's before too.

Yeah. Think so too.
As for mixing up "Judd's", I still go to that Not-Be-Named site to
when I'm not sure who-is-who, or who-has-been-in-what.

Yes. I meant Judd Hirsch. lol
Anyone who remembers Frank Gifford on Monday Night Football should remember that he was AWFUL with names. I seem to have that same issue. I butcher and mix up names constantly. I never forget a face, but I rarely remember a name correctly. lol

I'd like Hirsh. I liked him as Leonard's dad.
What appears to be going on with the list is a Sciencey-and-SciFi love affair that leaves scant room for mere mortals.

That might explain everything but Newhart being #1.

He falls under "scant room"--it’s about being chosen (or not) for the list—not about ranking.

George and Katee in the car with Howard and Bernie is classic - number one spot for me too! One of the funniest scenes in the whole series.
