Actor and playwright Sam Shepard has died at 73 after suffering from ALS.
A second significant loss of the day after Jeanne Moreau. I always enjoyed his performances, especially in Days of Heaven and The Right Stuff_.

Sam Sheppard was one of that certain breed of actors who could take any part and give a winning, believable performance. Always such a great screen presence--the kind of actor who held your attention every time--no matter the scope of the role he played.
