Thought she thought he was playing along for a minute. Can't know why she would have thought that since, as you said, Sheldon was (and has always been) "totally clueless". I think at the end she realized that while she was speaking figuratively, he was speaking literally.

Reminded me of that game (can't remember the name) where Howard and Raj kept getting Sheldon to ask for “wood”.

No doubt, still many, many miss-communicative days ahead for Shamy.

Yes, I think the people who claim Sheldon has "grown" and "matured" etc, are watching a different show. A show that exists only in their minds.
