That episode was repeated tonight. And I was reminded again that, while Sheldon is listing people in his life, supposedly in chronological order, he puts Penny before Leonard's mom. But he and Leonard had been sharing that apartment for something like 3 years before Penny arrived. I find it unlikely that in that time, he never met Leonard's mom.

As I recall Sheldon met Leonard's mom for the first time in the second season. Leonard had not wanted her to visit and he had tried any excuse possible to postpone it until it was inevitable. Sheldon compared it to "having a colonoscopy".
Or Sheldon could have been out when she did visit.

I remember that episode, but haven't watched it recently. I don't know if the language used is specific to her never having visited before, or whether Leonard always tried to avoid having her visit, in that case visiting AGAIN. At that point he may have been partly concerned with having her find out about his interest in Penny, which would not have been an issue in the 3 years before she moved in across the hall.
