He was right, but not for the right reason. He felt insecure about his wife working closely with her ex which is understandable. The real issue is trying to have a professional relationship with someone you used to be romantically linked too. It's not a good idea, and you can end up fired out of spite.
I'd say there are exceptions like creative projects; actors work with exes a lot on films , but I would never want to do business with an ex.

Among other things, in the creative projects such as movies/TV, neither of the exes is usually the boss. They would both be working for someone else - producer, director, etc - who would be the boss. Zach would have been Penny's boss.
But it would have been better - and seemed less selfish - if he had expressed his concern in terms of Penny's risk, not his own insecurity.

Ugh, I worked with an ex and it was awful for a good long while, until my feelings for him finally faded. We worked in close quarters too, so it wasn't like I could avoid him if I wanted. Plus, he started dating someone else who worked for the same company, so I had a front row seat as they acted all flirty with each other. Yuck. Karma bit him in the butt though, when she unceremoniously dumped him one day without so much as a how do you do - does it make me a bad person if that still brings a bit of a smile to my lips?

Hey Goth , I learned the hard way few times from similar situations. The worst part is when you still have feelings for the guy and you're forced to confront those feelings daily.... Not fun.
I recently got invited to my Exes party for his two year old daughter he had with his fiance in CALIFORNIA. You think I'm going to that to watch them be all lovey dovey ? Lol
And no that doesn't make you a bad person, only human

Can't say I've ever had that problem. Of course, I'd have to have an ex first to have that problem.
