I notice they've been recycling plots so here's a crazy idea for an episode they haven't done already. Penny and Leonard go to a couples resort for a weekend she heard about only they don't do any research on it and don't know the place is a swinger's resort. The episode involves them meeting different couples having no clue these people are dropping hints that they want to "swap" :p

I think half of that idea is good. I like the resort idea, but how about exploiting Leonard's obsessions with comics and sci-fi and either 1) have other couples react to him wanting to play videogames or D&D (or the other couples could think D&D means something else
), or 2) have the rest of the gang somewhere nearby and interrupt their weekend for various reasons.
I gotta believe it would take Penny all of two seconds to realize they were at a swinger's resort and knowing other couples wanted to swap.

I like those additions . I would have the people there be very ambiguous about what they want because the swinging is meant to be somewhat secretive.
What they could do is have Sheldon and Amy attend on like an opposite side of the resort. Leonard and Penny realize what's going on within the first few hours and then they have to find Sheldon to warn him since him and Amy are still oblivious.

Ahhh, now we have our in. Sheldon and Amy INVITE them to go to this resort (perhaps there's a scientific conference going on), as neither of them would have correctly guessed (or researched) that it was a swinger's resort.
And now the hilarity ensues.

I don't think a scientific conference would just happen to be going on at a swingers resort. But there might be a scientific conference and some kind of swingers group at the same resort - especially if it's a large one that wouldn't be hosting just one group at a time - on some week or weekend.
And that said, having Howard and Bernadette go along might be more entertaining than Sheldon and Amy. And/or if Raj and Stuart were there too, they could get hit on by gay couples...

I think Lorre and Prady should hire us to write for him because this is more interesting than anything their writers have come up with in the last 5+episodes.

Problem is, putting any of this good stuff into 17 minutes gets difficult. Seasons 11 and 12 might have to fit into 16 or 15 minutes per episode.

So very true! The episodes are very lackluster, and I have no idea what they are going to do for another 2 seasons at this rate...
Maybe Sheldon and Amy could invite Penny and Leonard to a couples retreat that gets shut down by food poisoning before they get there, so they are taken to the next one nearby with space to take them... Swingers resort!?

Some kind of problem or overbooking etc is a good idea, versus them somehow booking a trip to a "swingers resort" without knowing it.
Maybe they're going to one of the lesser comic-cons or something, and end up getting bumped to a different hotel? Or it could be some kind of a scientific thing, like when they went to that symposium thing and met Glenn.

But if you remove that angle you remove the comedy. It's becomes another ordinary Episode.

Remove what angle? Nothing is "threaded" here so you need to quote esp if you're not referring to the immediately-previous post. If you were, then I'll point out that I didn't remove the "swingers resort" angle, just thinking of better ways for them to end up at one.

Ooooo OK I misunderstood. Overbooking is a good reason.

If there are "clothing optional" beaches in California, maybe they could be at something at a place "next door," and when they go down to the beach they get a surprise. Which could also be a swingers group, hanging out at the beach. And if Amy were along too, she could "Hoo!" a few times again.
