Has he pulled his name from consideration for an Emmy? What a joke that he wasn't nominated last year. In each season, I have seen brilliance. I don't care how many times he has won before. There is no one better. Some of the other nominees aren't even funny. That should be a requirement. To win an Emmy for a comedy, people should laugh when you are performing. In one episode this season, the physical comedy he delivered while Amy was in the bathroom was hilarious. Give the guy the praise and awards he deserves.

Well, I'd say that Parsons has better writing being done for him, rather than his own acting ability being responsible. Which might be true for all of them, but I think it makes more of a difference for him.

And I think because the quality of the show has dipped, his character has been less funny. Hence no nominations.

So anyone could play Sheldon Cooper because of the great writing? And being able to do more with less is not nomination-worthy? IMHO, nothing justifies Will Forte, Aziz Ansari, or Thomas Middleditch over Jim Parsons. Hoping the same BS doesn't occur in 2017.

He's been rewarded four times now already. No harm having a fresh diverse bunch of nominees in his stead. It's not like he's Jeffrey Tambor in TRANSPARENT (untouchable). Gael Garcia Bernal has never been nommed for MOZART IN THE JUNGLE. I'd say that's a more notable omission.

If we're agreed that Parsons might have been "born to play Sheldon" or something, then the award would rightfully go to either his parents for making him, or the casting director or agent for finding him. Being "born to play Sheldon" would mean that Parsons himself isn't really doing anything special, that's just who he IS, and hence not deserving of an award for it.

If you don't nominate Parsons, then does the ultimate winner feel cheated?

I remember reading that a Grammy winner thanked another multi-winning artist for NOT putting out an album that year.
So...
Don't know about in Parsons' case; but seems it can happen.

Despite popular belief Jim Parsons is VERY different from his character.Aside from their mannerisms he's nothing like Sheldon and the more interviews you watch the more differences you see.

This point may not be related but I was happy to see Jim Parsons in Hidden Figures, to see him do something notable other than Big Bang. At the start of the movie I couldn't help but think of Sheldon but by the end he had convinced me that he could do roles other than Sheldon.

I saw him in the AIDS drama THE NORMAL HEART, which was eons away from his Sheldon persona. He was very good in it and (unlike Sheldon) he was the most sympathetic, grounded character in that TV film.

I just don't understand the love for 'Sheldon'. That character is the reason I barely watch the show (I sometimes watch the reruns but mute it when Sheldon is the focus).

He's a useful foil at times, but the episodes that put the main focus on Sheldon aren't very good. And then you have the people who somehow manage to think Sheldon is actually the center of the whole show! What have they been drinking, or smoking, or whatever?

I feel like Sheldon is similar to Barney in How I Met Your Mother. Funny characters, but only in small doses.

Yea, someone else that didn't care for Barney. Like Sheldon I thought I was one of the few that didn't like those characters (although Sheldon is the worst). Sheldon's character makes me angry most of the time, I just can't see watching a show that makes angry.

And yet they're the ones who get all the glory and attention when awards season comes around!
