It seems a bit far-fetched that out of the four guys, he's the one with the most girl problems. I was convinced he'd eventually hook up with Penny but his character is written as borderline pathetic now

I just find it kinda sad that he backslid so far to the male girlfriend category.

There's definite potential in a prospective Raj/Penny/Leonard romantic arc. The chemistry between Penny and Raj was there. Her and Leonard have turned into such a boring stale incongruous couple already. At least Sheldon/Amy and Howard/Bernie are fun together.

It seems pretty clear that Raj and Penny would not get along as any kind of couple. And Penny must have been paying for everything during their shopping spree etc, since Raj no longer has money to throw away. That might be fun for a shopping day, but not for a relationship.

Raj will now be the 'manny' of the married couples' kids, including those of Stuart and Denise.
