Hi everyone. I'm not sure if it's just me, but I just found tonight's episode so dull! Every storyline was a snoozefest! Are they planning on breaking Leonard and Penny up? I am just surprised at how badly their relationship is being written. And I don't see a time where it will get better! I'm trying to work out if I can even keep watching at this point. I've put 10 years into this show, it feels weird to not get to the end, but if this is where the bar has been set, I think I'm done!? Maybe giving myself some distance and coming back to it later might work for me?!

I thought it was quite funny. Both story lines had me laughing, especially Sheldon and Amy working together.

The story line with Sheldon and Amy was funny, but the Leonard, Penny and Raj was meh. Felt sorry for Leonard being left out of the loop. Seems like Penny and Raj are more compatible than with Leonard.
just discovered the emojis. There are a lot of them.

Thank you for your replies. I may have been in the wrong frame of mind watching the episode, might give it another watch. So different to how I used to be watching this show. I'd get to the end and want to watch it again immediately.

I loved the Shamy work scenes. Raj as Penny's new girl friend was a bit much, especially the matching shirts, but I still had to feel for Leonard there.

I am surprised Leonard is not jealous. Raj and Penny do have some history together.

More surprised that he was
over the time Raj spent with Penny than the time Penny spent with Raj...complaining that Raj was his friend first.

Same here.
I knew going in that they were going to butt heads because gone are the days when Sheldon always dished it out and Amy always took it.
I really expected pots-and-pans-and-markers-and-papers-and-furniture-and-sinks to fly ...to the point where Team Hofstadter had to be called in to restore the peace.

Ok, I have given it a rewatch and I will stand corrected that the Sheldon and Amy storyline was good! A couple of zingers! I still stand firm on the rest of the episode though, that was boring. I nearly missed the Sheldon and Amy but because I was tuning out! Haha
My favourite line of the episode was "I can hear your nose whistling" "Well I can hear your face talking, so we're even" I cracked up!

Finally got to watch this. Thanks a lot, Comcast, you frickin' crooks!
Anyway this ep, IMHO, definitely was a "it sounded good on paper" episode. There were good ideas that just somehow got lost in the translation. It seemed to lack the zip of other episodes we've seen. Ironic all the bitching and moaning about how the show has changed, as the plotlines in this one were certainly what the haters wanted: more science and nerdiness.
I don't know, maybe it was watching it on a computer screen on the CBS website (with the same amount of !@@$%@#$ commercials, you pricks!) that ticked me off.

I think maybe the snarkiness of the actual episode rubbed off on us Murph. It really felt like the episode was a downer. I guess having Howard being snarky to Leonard too (and not in his usual funny way), when, out of everyone he should be the one who sympathised with Leonard, was really jarring.

I liked Amy and Sheldon's storyline, but Leonard and Penny are getting progressively more boring. I think they married them too early in the show's run. They really only need one married couple. I don't see them breaking up, but the conflicts are getting really clichéd.

I agree. They didn't do any lead up to them getting married. They had them engaged for ages, but not in a way that even seemed like they would get married. They really stuffed up both weddings too.

I agree to a point. I think the big problem is they don't really explore the two personalities of the characters and see how those similarities and differences will affect their marriage. Truthfully, I don't know if they know how to write a good marriage dynamic on the show, although I do concede Howard and Bernadette's relationship can hit it out of the park when it's working.
I think they just need to figure out where the two characters are and see what they can do where their distinct personalities might impugn on the marriage.

Very true Murph. I think the difference is that Bernadette was always intended to be a partner for Howard, whereas Penny and Leonard, although obviously the plan was always for him to fall for her, they have had their own storylines and characters, so they have not written them together particularly well.

If you'll forgive the Friends comparison, I think Monica and Chandler (until they really got into the adoption storyline) was a great example of working the two characters into an effective relationship. In many ways, putting those two together made more sense than having Ross & Rachel together, and you know they didn't even contemplate the possibility until season 3.
Maybe they need to pull in a couple of writers whose sole purpose is to write the Penny/Leonard relationship. The storyline this week could have worked but it lost something in the translation. But getting someone in from the outside, someone who can give a fresh perspective on the characters and where they could end up, could be a big shot in the arm and let the show avoid the hard downward slide virtually every single show suffers by this point, even Friends.
