Sheldon is jealous of Bert for winning the MacArthur Genius Grant (or is it the MacArthur Fellowship?). Sheldon was the youngest person to receive the Stevenson Award. Has he won anything else since?

Well, he took his pants off while doing an acceptance speech for an award he received back in season 3. Does that count?

That's the Chancellor’s Award for Science. It should count, but I don't know if Sheldon wants to ever be reminded of it grin

Well, we did learn a lot about Uranus. laughing

Didn't Dennis Kim tell Sheldon that he was younger when he won it. Or was that some other award ?

It's the same award. The conversation went like this:

Dennis: "Wow, you won the Stephenson award."

Sheldon: "Yes, in fact I am the youngest person ever to win it."

Dennis: "Really, how old?"

Sheldon: "Fourteen and a half."

Dennis: "You were the youngest person ever to win it."

Sheldon didn't dispute that, but if he had, the questions would be: Did Dennis have any proof of his real age? As his family fled from North Korea did they have any papers with them, were they real or false?

So, Sheldon has won two awards: the Stevenson Award and the Chancellor’s Award for Science. Any more?

I have been waiting to see Sheldon finally make his one big discovery that puts him on track to getting the Nobel Prize he's always wanted. Besides the military project, it seems like all Sheldon's character does now is putter around with Amy and the gang. Sometimes you forget that he's this extraordinarily brilliant person who has come close to making breakthrough scientific discoveries.

I don't know if he ever will. In "The Jerusalem Duality" they proved that "biology" is the one thing that can completely derail a master mind. They set Dennis Kim up with a girl and he lost all interest in his scientific work. In "The Cooper-Kripke Inversion" Kripke thinks that Sheldon's research work is so bad because all Sheldon "does" is Amy. Perhaps that explains why Bert won the award: he is still single. confused

Yes, it often feels like they dampen his achievements in science so it doesn't detract from the storylines. But, it is doing his character a disservice. There was a reason he was considered brilliant, but now it just feels like he's dumbed down.

Agreed. Especially when you watch him in the early seasons and compare him to now. The writers tend to go too over the top making him act so childish.

I'm seeing a parallel between his character and that of Joey in Friends in the later years...dumbing them down to the point where it isn't believable anymore, not seeing much growth in the character over time and not really seeing much accomplishment career-wise although they once showed potential.

Is Sheldon still working on Dark Matter research since he stopped working on String Theory ? Or is his time taken up by the project with Col. Williams? It seems like he has had just as much success in all the games he played than in his field of study. Also what happened to what he was working on when he discovered that something moves in waves in the Cheesecake Factory. Sorry I forgot the details of the episode. He needs to get back to the whiteboard and quick.

That was 6 years ago in S3E14 "The Einstein Approximation". The whole episode was kind of a joke. Sheldon, a theoretical physicist, should have known the answer from the beginning. It's just "Physics 101" about the concept of Wave-Particle Duality. Bazinga! wink
It might have been connected to String Theory (?). At the end of that season he met Amy.

Four years ago in S6E03 "The Higgs Boson Observation" Sheldon hires an assistant, Alex Jensen, to go through his old notebooks. They might contain an idea which could win him the Noble Prize one day. Haven't heard anything about that anymore. confused

In S7E20 "The Relationship Diremption" he decides to stop with his String Theory research. frowning_face

Two years ago in S8E02 "The Junior Professor Solution" he started with his Dark Matter research. As long as he works for the university, that is what he is still doing.

In S8E14 "The Troll Manifestation" Leonard and Sheldon published a paper which would lead to their Gyroscope Project.

Sheldon is a genius so he should be able to work on both Dark Matter and the Gyroscope Miniaturization Project. His personal life with Amy is also important to him. heart_eyes

Will this all be too much for him? Will it prevent him from winning more awards? thinking
