Not too long ago, some of us were joking that we're gonna reach the 15 minute mark by next season. Consider how long a sitcom ran in the late 80s: 24 minutes. In the 90s it went down to 20-21 minutes and now TBBT and other shows such as "Kevin Can Wait" run for less than 20 minutes. In the case of TBBT they have to save money and time in the production to pay for the horrendous actors' wages. And they have more time left for ads. But it's getting pathetic. It's like commercials with some TBBT snippets now.

In the future it will be all commercials: episodes with only product placement like in The Truman Show. For example Penny selling new and improved drug treatments and Sheldon switching from his favorite strawberry Quik to product X.

If they bang on about side effects as much as the adverts do, actual plot run time will shrivel to five minutes!

Thats hilarious...an anal leakage side effect would get a good laugh.

Sounds like a "pool" coming on. Surely, there has to be one...with everyone doing their best to Guess The Episode where it happens!

With a DVR that allows fast forward through the commercials, you can watch more shows in a day.

And when it's 10 minutes show with product placement and 20 minutes other commercial you can watch even more

I've noticed that the episodes are sticking at around 18 minutes run time. Very poor. For a sitcom 21 minutes is about right.

New episode tomorrow. At 9 mil $ an episode and 18 minutes long...that's 500 grand a minute?? Wow.

How much do the actors earn a minute?
