Did anyone else wonder about that pit? It looked pretty new, not like something that would have been dug a couple (or a few) years ago. If it was a sinkhole, wouldn't the floor of the pit be a mess of rubble?
The walls seemed to have recently-cut, sharp angles like those created with a backhoe or excavator. The roots looked recently cut; I didn't see as much growth or dead roots from growth after the hole was dug as I would expect after a couple years. Who has been running equipment like that recently, and where is it now?
There was no accumulation of debris, dead leaves, etc in the bottom. Also, I didn't see the remains of any small animals that might have fallen in over time, let alone walkers.
It just looked and felt like a new-ish hole and I'm surprised I haven't seen any comment here and nothing was mentioned on The Talking Dead.

Rick figured out Daryl was not going in the right direction, he orders Daryl to stop, they scuffle in a random direction and fall into a hole that just happens to be where they were?
Such a BS contrivance.

the contrivances, always a shortcoming of TWD, are escalating like crazy.
....even the way Rick falls off the horse. It's beyond disappointing and just an embarrassment now.
