Seinfeld.
The Sopranos.
Mad Men.
These are three modern-era TV shows that had a clear sense of story and knew when to quit. They planned the final episode while their respective shows were enjoying fine ratings and reviews. The called it quits while their shows were still popular. They stemmed the supply while the demand remained high. And we can ever enjoy what they did through syndication.
If only TWD had emulated this.
If only.

I concur regarding your second comment.
I was a fan of the show who watched from beginning to end. I agree 100% that the writing and the direction that they took Dexter in was so out of his moral compass that it left me feeling pissed and bewildered. The same should be said about the character that played his sister Debra. Simply stated...the writers fuched it up!
I still consider myself a fan. But a disgruntled one. 😞😞😞

Dude you clearly did not understand The End. It wasn't a dream and everything that happened on the island was real. Next time you think you are smart just think again.

It was only real until the atomic bomb went off .

You did not understand the ending either. Everything that happened on the island was real. Christian explains it in the church to Jack. It's not the shows fault that people are stupid.

I loved Lost (apart from the season when they left the island and returned back) and ending was great. It wasn’t a dream. They were all in purgatory, which was my first initial thought when I began watching the show. Everything on the island was real and they all had to come to terms with their issues and when they were ready (and waiting for Jack to realise) that’s when they all left together. I loved it and made me cry. Lost set the bar high for future shows. Amazing series.

The island was NOT purgatory. It was real. The only part of the show that was an afterlife were the flash sideways in S6.

Every character had a story/issue they had to deal or come to terms with and when they did, they died. Jack took the longest, which is why we see everyone in the afterlife waiting for him before they go to heaven. To me, that is what I meant by purgatory. The island was a second chance. I mean John even walked on the island when he was physically paralysed before they crashed. The island was about good and bad, faith and science. Jack was more about science, while John was more about faith.
Every viewer, has their own take on Lost, which is the beauty of the show and that was mine.

The island was a real place and everything that happened on it really happened. John walked because the island healed him. Ben and Hurley might have run things for hundreds of years after Jack died and the survivors left. Christian explains everything very clearly in the church.

I have to admit that it perplexes me that people still don't understand this. Maybe a lot of folk just read the reviews/opinions rather than saw the show out to the end?
I can understand that people may have been disappointed that the ending wasn't what they wanted/expected, but I just don't understand the way so many people complain that "it all turned out to be a dream"/"they were dead all along!". I personally loved the ending and spent a lot of it bawling my eyes out.
Anyway, shows that knew when to quit: Galavant. OK, it was forced to quit, but the ending was perfect.

OT @Michelle_Dessler , I keep wondering what it's like to go from Tony in 24 to Chin in Hawaii Five-O and then get saddled with Cabe in Scorpion. Has your eyesight deteriorated, or have you just developed an appreciation for "well worn" look?

@Michelle_Dessler
Thank you for the link. There was confusion at the very end among fans because the ending was confusing. So whoever said that they were dead the whole time is wrong.
I'm sticking with the ending being a let down. Obviously, I'm not alone.

I here Robert Patrick is a really nice guy. He was a cutie in Terminator.
I keep telling myself to stop watching Scorpion because it is such a goofy show with goofy characters. But damn it...I love that goofy show with the goofy characters! Robert Patrick 's Cabe being one of my favorite. 🤓😄
You can never tell how well or how badly someone will age. But it's what's inside that matters the most...right?
