...that Simon did not get Lucille.

When Negan had him get on his knees, that was totally "that's yo ass." Alas, no swinging.

Yep. And when he used Dwight to set him up, that should have justified him just shooting Simon in the knee caps and adding a gut-shot to let him die slow and then turn if Lucilling him would've taken away the opportunity to chain him to the fence as an example to the others.

That fight scene was, like most of the recent ones, pretty much anticlimactic and disappointing.

Yep, you couldn't even tell who's physically stronger up until the point Negan was already on top choking Simon...AFTER A CUT AWAY SCENE with Dwight, FFS!

Anyone else think when Negan was choking Simon it was a good time to shoot Negan in the head. I'm just annoyed at the amount of times Negan was just so easy to access and could have been killed by now. The writers suck how they make it so unrealistic. Especially that time he was outside and Rick all of a sudden was a Storm Trooper with terrible aim.

I know, right? I mean, he was a sheriff's deputy! He had to qualify many times with his firearms. Anybody who has any training at all knows you almost never use full auto, unless you are trying to keep their heads down as you shoot and scoot. Otherwise, you shoot single shots using your sights. And especially for them since ammo isn't that easy to come by. They would be chanting the mantra, "one shot, one kill", cause you can't waste ammo. And also because full auto isn't accurate shooting.

And yes, if people really wanted Negan dead, he would have been dead so long ago. They act like, "uh oh, he is slowly walking around and talking very confidently. I better not shoot him, even though he is out in the open just a few yards away."

Yeah. Negan's followers are under his spell. But not without reason. They've bought into the idea that "Negan can't die, can't be killed, seems to have 9 lives, whoever tries to cross him gets crushed, so I'm not going to be the one to try anything stupid" after countless episodes such as this one, when it seems someone had the drop on him or had corralled enough support to try a coup or uprising. He always seems to be one step ahead. So, in this fight with Simon, who was one such guy who thought he had a chance, yet again Negan found him out and is in control of the entire situation. And if Simon - his right hand, most trusted lieutenant - failed and paid for that failure with his life, who's going to bet their life they'd fare any better? Most of these people are not leaders, so there should be few takers.

As for Rick and Storm Trooper aim, that's just plot armor - no one can kill anyone until the plot says so. They're trying to string out the tension, keep eyeballs glued to the screen for a season of advertising revenue, so it'd be anticlimactic to kill Negan until they're ready to do so.

Unfortunately, we viewers are growing impatient with it all, especially the increasingly absurd ways in which Negan magically finds ways to avoid being whacked when it was clearly possible to do so.

Yeah but it is so unrealistic to think that Rick could shoot so poorly while at other times he makes head shots just point shooting, no sights. He was a sheriff's deputy after all and he had to qualify each year. He knows how to shoot. And he knows better than to shoot a semi auto rifle on full auto, which is not any way to shoot accurately, and is a big waste of ammo. (And ammo is harder to come by in the apocalypse). If he is shooting walkers, he makes head shots with ease. Sometimes you would think he was a trick shooter at one of those side shows. But when Negan is around, hahaha, he just sprays that rifle on full auto while Negan is ducked down behind cover. So Rick must know there is zero chance of hitting him. THEN.... he makes that surprised, frustrated, face and tosses the rifle aside. "Darn, out of ammo". Wow, really? How did that happen?

That is as absurd as the number of times and ways Negan escapes.

Absolutely agree.

Writing has been sucking for too many seasons now. We held on through denial, hoping it'd return to the halcyon days of seasons 1 and 2 but, alas, it has not.

Not likely to happen I think. If you look at the number of million viewers for each season you see it didn't really take off until season 3. So they probably think that was due to the change in writing. But some shows just take a while to get committed fans and for their word of mouth to generate added interest. By the way the viewership dropped a couple of million last season. Maybe they will take notice.

Anyway, I agree, the first two seasons were better.

The drop in viewers over the last couple of seasons is tremendous! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Walking_Dead_(TV_series)#Ratings

He could have been killed so easily zillions of times! I am sick of the shit.

It's almost funny. I get the sense the writers think they are building up the audience so we will feel so satisfied when Negan is finally killed off (if they are ever going to kill him off). But it seems like most of us have about had it with this nonsense. If he ever does die I will probably yawn. So what? Any number of people could have killed him a bunch of times already.

Look at Jadis. She has plenty of reasons to want Negan dead. And if anyone had ample opportunity to kill Negan, it was Jadis after she captured him and had him bound horizontally to that handtruck thing. She even took Lucille the bat and swung it straight down at him, but stopped it just inches away from his face!! She pointed guns at him, and made caveman grunts. It is so bizarre. Negan sweet talked her and she grudgingly let him go on his merry way. What the hell is that? Negan's defense was "well gee, I only wanted Simon to kill a couple of your people, not the whole lot of them. I wouldn't murder that many. I'm a nice guy, you know me." How could a woman resist such charms?

AAAAaaand they kept him alive...Just like in the comics. Booooorrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing

At least cut out his tongue so he can't scheme anymore.
