Bespreek The Walking Dead

Could have cut his death down to like 2 minutes tops. For a season premiere this was a dud. His farewell dragged on and on. Even the actress playing Judith couldn't fake sorrow as they had to dub in crying and cut from her face because she clearing wasn't giving two shits.

I don't know if it is me or not but ... to me it seems the creators are trying to make TWD into something more than it is. I understand shows change but for me, it is like watching A History of Character Development .... documentary. Plus, what's with all the fast forward - when did TWD become Lost??

I hated the fist half of this season - it dragged - and right now I am not so thrilled with the 2nd half. Please let it improve.

This sums up my enui with Walking Dead. Although I love Lost (even the traditionally hated seasons)

This season is trying to apply some directorial flair that doesn't fit, IMO. Perhaps if I were not simply watching this on the fumes of fan inertia I would be more impressed. I have grown tired of almost everyone on the show. Even Carl's death moved me not at all.

I do like the possibility that Negan ends up with the group.

Ha ha, that's funny, because we know a child Judith's age doesn't get what's happening. But, nice potshot all the same.

Personally for me, I think this second half premiere episode tried real hard to touch on what we originally liked about this show, long, long ago. I went back to the death of Andrea's sister, and you want to talk about long, drawn-out emotionalism? But, this was season one, back when we all thought this was the greatest show of all time. So, that formula had worked, and it was in straying from that (among other things) that the show lost its way.

The other thing from this episode that gives a small ray of hope is Daryl's line, "all of us, together [in one place], is their worst nightmare." But, for longtime and long-suffering fans, it'd be a dream come true. We've all talked at length how the fracturing of the group, and introduction of all kinds of new locations, was bad for the show. We want to see our group together, and Daryl's statement hopefully portends a new, unified group hellbent on forging peace out of this landscape of war.

I want to see if they can pull it off.

Oh boy, I certainly hope so. I don't think I would jump ship but I am waiting for a time when I am excited to watch.
