He has become a liability to the group. His character arc is played out. Just kill him off with a big death scene, let the Daryl fans riot, and move on.
Daryl is not even a character anymore. He is like fuckin Chewbacca! He had like 10 lines in these past 8 episodes for fucks sake. Also he lookslike a full blown alcoholic with all that fat on his face.
I know, right?! Remember when Daryl first told everyone that, to put a walker down permanently, they had to kill the brain? He'd been a leader from the beginning, the writers have ruined his character.
Just kill the idiot already.
I'd rather they restore what we originally loved about him. He's been a trusted lieutenant to Rick. Would like to see that relationship flourish in this challenge...or the next challenge to come...
I think Glenn was more of a trusted lieutenant. I kind of like the mini fight between Daryl and Rick because it shows that there is a difference. Can't have two leaders...
The Daryl character has been lame since he stopped speaking like an actual person. I forget when they changed him, but for the first season I remember him carrying on with long conversations, and now it’s just grunts.

I only said Daryl has been "a" trusted lieutenant, not "the" (only) one. Yes, Glenn was a high-ranking member of the group's leadership - in fact, at the prison, it seemed accepted that he was indeed 2nd in command.
All I was saying is that Daryl had emerged as a solid executive. Maybe not a board director, but when it comes to git'ner done, Daryl can be pointed in a direction and he'll get'er done.

True, Daryl will get her done, but only , mostly if he believes in or agrees with whatever the thing is. He can be awfully willful and stubborn at times.
Daryl was indirectly responsible for Glen's death. Now he is directly responsible for the failure of Rick's plan. He and Tara.
Good points. He's somehow absolved of accountability for his impetuousness. Not sure why, nor am I clear on why the writers have done that with his character.
That's a good point indeed about him going rogue and messing up Rick's plan. I kept thinking while watching last episode that they need to talk about this while they're down there in that tunnel....

They have been making great pains to absolve Daryl. It's all on Eugene in Gimple's world. That way fans will continue to idolize Daryl. I just can't figure out why he won't wash his damn hair. You have access to a shower and shampoo dude, use it for God's sake. He has become rather monosyllabic, as other posts have mentioned.

Right?! Rick, too...although we have seen Rick shower (back at Alexandria). Nevertheless, that sweaty wet hair all in their eyes and face is really icky to look at. You'd think that, with all the stench of death and rot and wearing the same clothes all the time, they'd be more interested in basic personal hygiene and look forward to freshening up more often than not.

Dood.... Rick and Daryl are at war. The story arc we are watching currently is adapted from a storyline in the comics called "All Out War," I think. They have far more important things to deal with than "freshening up."

:-) You're not wrong! But Carol has time to keep her hair did.
What about Jesus? People somehow keep their hair in remarkably good condition, despite living in an apocalypse.
Jesus does have very lustrous hair. Good to know that high quality grooming products survive the ZA. :
I'm sure "lustrous" is not a requirement. Just some basic hygiene, that's all. With infection and gangrene and rotting corpses everywhere, a little extra effort at cleanliness isn't unreasonable. And, if it's within reach for some, it's within read for all.
Alright, then, maybe somebody reading the site will give the word to Gimple... Daryl could get shot full of holes by a few Saviors because he wasn't on the job, but I guess it was excusable because he was conditioning his hair.
