Jeffrey Dean Morgan had a much more imposing appearance in Watchmen than he does now. I think having the extra weight would have helped his character quite a bit. I also really liked his performance in the father Gabriel episode. He was toned down and not so cartoon-y with all the bobbing and leaning. Hopefully he keeps that up.

SPOILER BELOW.
I seem to recall someone on IMDb pointing out in a post that Negan's victim, Glenn, had more muscle on him than Negan does.

So fucking true. There's no girth to Negan. How's he supposed to take over the Saviors if he ain't the biggest fella on the block.

In the comics Negan is a brute, biggest guy on the block. In the show he is just a scrawny old dude sadyl.

I don't recall JDM being as scrawny in past roles as he is as Negan. I wonder what happened?

For the History channel mini-series entitled Texas Rising, the 50-year-old actor had to lose 40 lbs. Morgan’s start weight when embarking on the tuna can diet was around 175 lbs and finished at 130 lbs.
130 lbs at 6' 2" you gotta be fucking kidding me. No wonder he looked like his skinny jeans are barely hanging by the skin of his teeth.
