The 'Action'

For a show that's invested a lot of time into the 'war' action this season, you would think they'd hire some kind of military consultant and put a tiny bit of effort into the action scenes.
So far the action has been laughable and reminiscent of 80's action where people just go full auto and run out of cover to get shot by the good guys. The most hilarious scene so far was Carol and her buddies popping out of the bushes to shoot down 20 or so Saviours who had (for whatever reason) decided to surround the 'King' and his squad and then stare at them doing nothing for 30 seconds.
So bad. Feels like 80% of the show this season has been people shooting guns aimlessly at people 5 feet away (and missing). Just awful. Seriously, this used to be my favourite show which I looked forward to watching. We're beyond this kind of awful action in 2017.

Why would they hire a military consultant? Which character on the show has military training? Makes no sense.

It did remind me of ‘80s TV action. Everyone just popped up from behind a car and gave a short burst of gunfire like a whac-a-mole. The Carol ambush scene was really bad. The Kingdom people were firing on both sides of the Saviors, so they could’ve easily shot each other with friendly fire.

So the action wouldn't look so terrible. I'm not sure you need to be in the military to understand that walking in a massive clump just to get shot to pieces is a bad idea. The only difference between a civilian and military personal is a bit of training and experience - anybody still alive at this stage (especially a war band like the Saviours) should have plenty of experience.
Lets not forget the montage of groups of 20+ saviours running through open ground in a huge group just to get shot to bits by Carol and her merry band of men firing full auto from behind a few derelict cars.
