I still think Negan killed it, but I'll give it one more season before I give up as I already did with "FTWD." Negan is too much of a comic book character. In the real world such a person could not be as successful, so it takes the realism out of the show, IMO.

I think the entirety of Season 7 has been an epic shark-jump. Negan is ridiculously over the top, of course, but I'd also cite the communities they encounter in this season--the Scavengers, the Kingdom, Oceanside. It's all become a laughable, kitschy cartoon.

I was also pretty pissed that they killed off Glenn, but the show has had such a massive body count from its main characters I'll give it a pass on this.

Negan was mildly enjoyable, but he's overstayed his welcome.

I agree the logistics of the dumpster sequence didn't make a whole lot of sense. It was also predictable. (One of the most ancient rules in adventure stories is that if a character appears to die but the evidence is at all ambiguous, HE'S ALIVE.) I'm just commenting that I think Glenn was to a certain extent integral to the show, and that it has lost something since he died. (I'm aware he also dies in the comics, but I haven't read those so I can't comment on them.) I'm not certain why. I've seen this happen on other shows before, where a major character is killed off and afterward the show is just less interesting. I know Glenn isn't a fan favorite the way Daryl or Carol is, but I'd argue he's underrated. Maybe part of it is that he provided a certain moral center to the story. He is perhaps the only character with an unambiguously positive arc; he started out as basically a naive nerd and gradually grew into a smart, resourceful hero even as the other characters, from Rick on down, were becoming increasingly compromised.

Forget the logistics. The fantastic happens on this show all the time. It was just too much for me to suspend disbelief.

As for Glenn, unfortunately I don't think they could afford to allow any character to be integral to the show. The show has been damaged in some respects by his loss, however with time I think it will prove inconsequential.

One of the most basic principles in fantasy is that you set up the rules and stick by them. Saying "it's just fantasy" is a copout. Good fantasies always have a coherent internal logic.

Anything after season 2 was just corny and awful starting with the introduction of Governor.

No, idiot, "forget the logistics" for the purposes of my post as the greater damage to the story was not done by the logistical feat of allowing Glenn to get under the dumpster, but having him survive such a well-crafted death at all. The mode of escape is relatively unimportant to me, as ridiculous as it was.

Beth's death. It was just utterly pointless and turned a moment of joyous reunion on its ear, into a WTF moment.

Not until Ted McGinley becomes a cast member.
